OUTLOOK:

The strength of Coach Wood's 2014 squad is undoubtedly the pitching staff.  It's rare that you find 4 quality left-handed arms on one team at the high school level, but Nelson County has just that.  Led by University of Kentucky signee Jared Proctor, the Nelson County staff is deep and talented and includes senior LHP's Alex Briney and Tyler Spalding, and junior LHP Parker Taylor.  Proctor also led the offense last year, setting a single season school record with 61 hits.  The Cardinals also expect big offensive contributions from Spalding, junior Zech Maulden, and sophomore SS Hunter Childress.  Nelson County, who advanced to last season's 5th Region Championship game, certainly has the pitching to be considered one of the preseason favorites for 19th District and 5th Region Championships this spring.
