2014 Underclass Games Complete Evaluations for 2016 class

Arthur Sconochia, 3B/RHP, St. Mary Catholic Central, 2016

6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect. Short arm action who locates pitches well and fills the strike zone. Fastball sat 78-79 mph, 12/6 curveball with gradual break at 60-62 mph, and changeup at 68 mph. Soft hands with a short arm action throwing 79 mph across the infield from third base. Ran a 4.62 home to first. Strength in bat with excellent use of lower half. Bat speed registered at 81 mph. 

Bradley Shinevarre, SS, St. Mary Catholic Central, 2016

5-foot-7, 160-pound prospect. Good footwork and soft hands at shortstop, low ¾ arm slot throwing 76 across the infield. Ran a 4.64 home to first. Short compact swing with a good bat path with an approach to all fields. Bat speed registered at 83 mph.

Branden Knorr RHP/3B, Ann Arbor Pioneer HS, 2016

6-foot-4, 180-pound strong lanky prospect. High ¾ arm slot with quick arm action that fills the strike-zone with three pitches. Fastball sits 85-87, slider has late break at 76-77, and a hard split finger at 75-77 mph. Good range and body control at third base with soft hands, throws 82 mph across the infield. Ran a 4.73 home-to-first. Gets good separation, quick hands, and a gap to gap approach at the plate. Bat speed registered at 80 mph.

Cal Livesay, C, Saline HS, 2016

6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect. Good receiving skills with a big frame for pitchers to throw to with pop times of 2.21-2.33. Toe tap with strength to the pull side in a line drive approach. Bat speed registered at 86 mph.

Cameron Miller, RHP, Lake Orion HS, 2016

6-foot-9, 225-pound prospect. Long and lanky with good leverage down the mound. Fastball sits 77-78 mph. 11/5 curveball with gradual break at 69-72 mph.

Cameron Milne, OF, Dexter HS, 2016

6-foot-1, 165-pound athletic prospect. Good actions with his glove and footwork in the outfield. Showed good carry in an accurate arm at 82 mph from the outfield. Ran a 4.18 home to first. Left-handed bat at the plate with quick hands in a line drive approach, uses a toe/tap to load. Bat speed registered at 83 mph.

Collin Steinhauer, RHP/3B, Chelsea HS, 2016

6-foot-3, 225-pound prospect. High ¾ arm slot with ability to repeat mechanics and throw strikes. Fastball had good arm side run at 76-78 mph, 12/6 curveball at 66-69 mph, and changeup with good sink at 70-71 mph. Good actions with footwork and hands at third base, threw 80 mph across the infield. Ran a 4.93 home to first. Strength in his bat with a pull approach in a slight uphill swing. Bat speed registered at 80 mph.

Connor Sampson SS/RHP, Belleville HS, 2016

6-foot-3, 185-pound long/lanky athletic prospect. Over the top arm action on the mound with excellent control. Fastball has some arm side run at 78-79 mph, curveball has good action at 67-69 mph. His length gives him incredible range on the infield. Hands and feet work well together, throws 79 mph across the infield. Ran a 4.84 home-to-first. Creates great rhythm and leverage at the plate with some pop in his bat. Bat speed registered at 84 mph.

Cullen Turner, C, Haslett HS, 2016

5-foot-5, 140-pound prospect. Good flexibly with solid receiving skills behind the plate, long arm action and pop time of 2.41-2.50. Ran a 4.76 home-to-first. Toe top stride with a short compact swing in a line drive approach. Bat speed registered at 75 mph.

Daigoro Otaka, SS, U of D Jesuit, 2016

5-foot-9, 150 pound prospect. Big time defender with great actions with his footwork and glove at shortstop, threw 74 mph across the infield. Ran a 4.57 home to first. Open to even in a narrow base, quick hands in a line drive approach. Bat speed registered at 74 mph.

Danny Blade, MIF, Divine Child, 2016

5-foot-11, 180 pound prospect. Good hands and footwork at shortstop with excellent range. Threw 76 mph across the infield. Ran a 4.07 home to first. Narrow base with good separation at the plate, quick hands with some pop in his bat. Bat speed registered at 77 mph.

Devin Hager, MIF, Walled Lake Northern HS, 2016

5-foot-10, 160 pound prospect. Exceptional hands and feet at shortstop. Threw 83 mph across the infield. Ran a 4.30 home to first. Good rhythm at the plate with great plate coverage, gap to gap approach, with a bat speed of 80 mph

Diaz Saunderson, 1B/LHP, Northville HS, 2016

6-foot-1, 177- pound prospect. High ¾ quick arm slot from the left side. Creates good leverage with slight fall to third base side. Locates fastball down in the zone well at 72-73 mph, curveball 67-69 mph, and changeup 59-63 mph. Good hands and range at first base, throwing 74 mph across the infield. Ran 4.51 home-to-first. Narrow stance with a toe tap load and stride, create some pull power from the left side of the plate. Bat speed registered at 85 mph.

Drake Ellens, OF, Caledonia HS, 2016

6-foot, 155-pound prospect. Plus actions in the outfield with his glove and footwork, plus carry at 87 mph. Ran a 4.50 home-to-first. Wide base with quick hands and strength to the pull side. Bat speed registered at 85 mph. 

Ethan Zaglaniczny, C, Chippewa Valley HS, 2016

6-foot, 185-pound prospect. Creates a big frame for pitchers to throw to, short arm and quick hands, pop time of 2.15-2.22.  Ran a 4.8 home to first. Open-to-even stance, with strength to the pull side. Bat speed registered at 86 mph.

Evan Sexsmith, RHP/3B, Portage Northern, 2016

5-foot-11, 170-pound prospect. Side arm slot with effective deceptive motion. Fastball with some cut action at 63-65 mph, slider was 54-55 mph, effective when located for strikes.

Griffin Green, C, Bishop Foley, 2016

5-foot-11, 170-pound prospect. Excellent skill set behind the plate with receiving and blocking skills. Plus arm strength with pop times of 1.87-2.01. Switch hitter, from the right side has strength with good use of lower half. From the left side has loose hands with pull strength. Bat speed registered at 75 from the right side and 80 from the left side.

Gunner Rainey, 3B/C, Adrian-Madison, 2016

5-foot-10, 190-pound prospect. Showed good actions with footwork and glove at third base, strong arm across the infield at 75 mph. Ran a 4.79 home-to-first. Short compact swing with quick hands and approach to all fields. Bat speed registered at 81 mph.

Hunter Boersma, OF, Muskegon Mona Shores HS, 2016

6-foot-1, 179-pound prospect. Excellent action with footwork and glove in outfield, threw 82 mph. Ran a 4.61 home to first. Some pop in bat with a gap-to-gap approach from the left side. Bat speed registered at 81 mph.

Ian Simek, 3B/1B, Lake Orion HS, 2016

5-foot-11, 185-pound prospect. Soft hands with good range at third base, threw 74 mph across the infield. Ran a 5.10 home-to-first. Open to event stance with good use of backside and lower half in a gap-to-gap approach. Bat speed registered at 83 mph.

Jack Kuczmanski, SS, Clarkston HS, 2016

6-foot-1, 155-pound prospect. Good athletic actions at shortstop with his glove and range, threw 68 mph across the infield. Ran a 5.19 home-to-first. Toe tap stride with a pull approach, strength in his bat to pull side. Bat speed registered at 74 mph.

Jacob Mavis, RHP, St. Joseph HS, 2016

6-foot-1, 150-pound prospect. Good leverage in long lanky frame. Fastball had arm side run at 81-83. Curveball is a 12/6 with decent depth, sits at 65-66. Slider was 72-73 mph. Excellent control of all three pitches, slider is best off speed pitch.

Jace Beatty, OF/LHP, Kenowa Hills HS, 2016

6-foot, 185-pound prospect. ¾ arm slot with good command of three pitches from the left side. Fastball has cut action at 75-77 mph, frisbee type slider at 69-70 mph, and changeup with some sink at 73 mph. Plus actions with footwork and glove in the outfield. Accurate arm at 79 mph. Ran 4.30 home-to-first. Quick hands with good separation from the left side. Bat speed registered at 88 mph.

Jake Porter, OF/C, Portage Central HS, 2016

5-foot-8, 180-pound prospect. Good actions with footwork and glove in the outfield, threw 74 mph. Soft hands with good receiving skills behind the plate, pop time of 2.29-2.47.Ran 4.97 home-to-first. Good separation with a pull approach at the plate. Bat speed registered at 76 mph.

Jaret Koin, 2B/SS, Standish Sterling Central HS, 2016

5-foot-11, 155-pound prospect. Good actions with footwork and glove at shortstop, threw 81 mph across the infield. Ran a 4.25 home to first. Short compact swing with quick hands. Bat speed registered at 80 mph.

Joe Cipriano, 3B, Liggett HS, 2016

5-foot-8, 198-pound prospect. Good hands and footwork at third base, threw 75 mph across the infield. Ran a 4.63 home-to-first. Wide base with a toe tap stride, strength in bat to pull side. Bat speed registered at 90 mph.

Joseph Schweitzer, 1B, Troy HS, 2016

6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect. Soft hands with good footwork around first base, threw 72 mph across the infield. Ran a 4.63 home-to-first. Ball jumps off bat from the left side of the plate with quick strong hands. Bat speed registered at 83 mph.

Jason Clark SS/RHP, Bay City Western HS, 2016

5-foot-9, 163-pound athletic prospect. Throws from a high ¾ arm slot with clean mechanics. Fastball sits 85-87 mph, throws a slurvy type breaking ball at 71-75 mph with good movement. At shortstop shows soft hands and outstanding footwork ranging laterally. Short arm action across the infield at 79 mph. Ran a 4.51 home-to-first. Shows great plate coverage and uses the whole field. Line drive approach with bat speed registered at 87 mph.             

John Beuckelaere, RHP, Divine Child, 2016

5-foot-11, 165-pound prospect. Quick ¾ arm slot, commands both pitches well for strikes. Keeps fastball down well with arm side run at 82-83 mph. Plus movement on curveball at 68-70 mph.

Jordan Brewer  OF, St. Joesph HS, 2016

6-foot, 175-pound quick twitch athletic prospect. Great actions in the outfield with his hands and feet.  Shows an accurate arm with good carry at 84 mph. Ran a 4.18 home-to-first. Showed strength in his bat with pull power, ball jumped offs his bat on pitches on inner half. Bat speed was registered at 82 mph.

Jordyn Finney, C, Cranbrook Kingswood, 2016

5-foot-9, 150-pound prospect. Good flexibly behind the plate with soft hands receiving the baseball. Quick feet with a short arm action allowed for a pop time of 2.04-2.18. Ran a 4.84 home-to-first. Gets good separation at the plate with a good bat path. Bat speed registered at 79 mph.

Josh Sulak, RHP, Plymouth HS, 2016

6-foot, 180-pound prospect. High ¾ quick athletic arm action, works downhill with clean mechanics. Fastball had arm side run at 82-84 mph. Curveball has good depth at 67-70 mph and changeup at 71 mph.

Justin Farkas, RHP, Lumen Christi Catholic, 2016

6-foot-1, 160-pound prospect. High ¾  quick loose arm slot with slight weight transfer to first base side of mound. Fastball sits 74-77 mph, 12/6 curveball with gradual break at 63-65 mph, and changeup  at 70 mph.         

Justin Foulks, RHP, Southfield Lathrup HS, 2016

5-foot-11, 165-pound prospect. ¾ quick arm slot. Clean mechanics who locates pitches well. Locates fastball down in the zone well at 77-79 mph, curveball at 65-67 mph, and changeup at 68-69 mph.

Kenny Jordan, OF, Tawas HS, 2016

5-foot-8, 130-pound prospect. Good actions with his glove in the outfield, long arm action throwing 60 mph. Ran 4.94 home-to-first. Wide base with good extension in an approach to all fields. Bat speed registered at 71 mph.

Kevin Mahan, SS, Rochester HS, 2016

6-foot, 150-pound prospect. Good hands and footwork at shortstop, threw 74 mph across the infield. Ran a 4.70 home-to-first. Legs lift stride with a line drive approach from the left side of the plate. Bat speed registered at 76 mph.

Kevin Smith Jr. LHP/OF, University, 2016

5-foot-11, 195-pound prospect. High ¾ arm slot from the left side of the mound. Fastball sat 76-81, curveball had gradual break at 70-73 mph, and changeup with some sink at 71-74 mph. Good glove work in outfield with an accurate arm at 80 mph. Ran a 4.79 home-to-first. Top tap stride with strength in his bat to the pull side. Bat speed registered at 85 mph.

Kyle Ziegler, OF/SS, South Lyon East HS, 2016

5-foot-9, 160-pound strong quick twitch athlete. Great actions with glove and feet in the outfield, threw 85 mph. Good range and quick feet/hands at shortstop, threw 81 mph across the infield Ran a 4.29 home-to-first. Gets good separation at the plate with excellent bat path. Bat speed registered at 86 mph.

Levi Overway, C/3B, Grand Haven, 2016

6-foot-2, 185-pound prospect. Soft hands with good footwork at third base, short arm action throwing 76 mph across the infield. Fundamentally solid behind the plate with blocking and receiving skills. Pop time of 2.18-2.20. Ran a 4.75 home-to-first. Wide base with strong hands in a pull approach. Bat speed registered at 80 mph.

Mason Erla, RHP/3B, Cass City HS, 2016

6-foot-4, 180-pound prospect. High ¾ arm slot with good body control. Keeps fastball down in zone at 87-87 mph. Curveball was 69-71, and changeup at 80 mph. At third base, showed soft hands and good length in range. Strong arm across the infield at 85 mph. Ran a 4.51 home-to-first. Gets good leverage at the plate with his swing, lower half connects well through swing. Bat speed registered at 90 mph.

Matt Fowler, OF, Roseville HS, 2016

5-foot-11, 190-pound prospect. Good actions in the outfield with his footwork and glove, strong arm throwing 85 mph. Ran a 4.50 home-to-first. Wide base at the plate some pop to the pull side. Bat speed registered at 77 mph.

Michael Flaishans, C/MIF, Canton HS, 2016

5-foot-7, 145-pound prospect. Quick hands and good footwork at shortstop, threw 74 mph across the infield. Good flexibility with soft hands and excellent receiving ability behind the plate, pop time of 2.10-2.16. Ran a 4.77 home-to-first. Wide base with a 79 mph exit velocity. Toe top in a pull approach at the plate.

Nathan Fryz, MIF/OF, Cabrini HS, 2016

5-foot-7, 145-pound prospect. Good feel with his footwork and glove in the outfield, threw 73 mph. Soft hands at shortstop with a long arm action, throwing 69 mph across the infield. Ran a 4.32 home-to-first. Short compact swing quick hands and ability to spray the ball all over the field. Bat speed registered at 84 mph.

Ryan Austin, MIF/RHP, Berkley HS, 2016

5-foot-10, 170-pound athletic prospect. High ¾ arm action with clean mechanics. Fastball sits 74-77 mph with good arm side run, 12/6 curveball 59-62 mph. Soft hands with a long arm action throwing 73 mph across the infield. Ran a 5.22 home-to-first. Leg lift stride with excellent extension through the baseball at the plate. Bat speed registered at 83 mph.

Tommy Miller, SS, Ottawa Township (IL), 2016

6-foot, 145-pound prospect. Good action with footwork and glove at shortstop, long arm action throwing 80 mph across the infield. Ran a 4.48 home-to-first. Good leverage with the bat from the left side with strength to the pull side. Bat speed registered at 78 mph.

Tyler Chase, C, Riverview HS, 2016

5-foot-10, 220-pound prospect. Excellent receiving ability behind the plate with good blocking skills. Pop time of 2.15-2.22. Ran 4.54 home-to-first. Quick strong hands in a pull approach at the plate. Bat speed registered at 83 mph.

Tyler Trovinger, SS/RHP, Mona Shores HS, 2016

5-foot-11, 190-pound strong quick twitch athlete. High ¾ arm slot, release point varies on pitch. Fastball was 82-85 with good movement. Curveball was 67-68 and changeup was 75-76. Athletic at shortstop with good hands and footwork. Arm works well across the infield at 85 mph. Ran a 4.65 home-to-first. Big time strength in his bat with quick hands and a good bat path. Bat speed registered at 91 mph.

Zac Capaldi, 3B, Anchor Bay HS, 2016

6-foot-1, 215-pound prospect. Good actions at third base with footwork and hands, threw 79 mph across the infield. Ran a 4.51 home-to-first. Ball jumps off his bat from the left side, strong bat with a gap-to-gap approach. Bat speed registered at 84 mph.

Zach Heeke, 3B, Mt. Pleasant HS, 2016

6-foot, 185-pound prospect. Excellent actions at third base with his footwork and glove, strong arm across the infield at 80 mph. Ran a 4.43 home-to-first. Plus strength in his bat with great extension through the zone. Bat speed registered at 89 mph.

Zach Owings, SS, Saline HS, 2016

6-foot, 180-pound prospect. Good hands and footwork at shortstop with excellent body control laterally. Threw 77 mph across the infield. Ran 4.25 home-to-first. Good rhythm and quick hands from the left side of the plate. Bat speed registered at 83 mph.

Zach Prystash, OF/LHP, Northville HS, 2016

5-foot-7, 150-pound prospect. High ¾ arm slot, fills the strike zone well from the left side of the mound. Fastball was 74-76 mph and 12/6 curveball sits 65-67 mph. Good hands in the outfield, throwing 78 mph. Ran a 4.37 home-to-first. Switch hitter, from the right side has a line drive approach to all fields. From the left side has good separation with a pull approach. Bat speed registered 76 mph from the right side and 71 mph from the left side.
