Kentucky Scouting Director

As we prepare for the upcoming 2015 high school season, we will be taking a preseason glimpse at programs from around the state.

Team: Bullitt East
Nickname:
Chargers
District:
24th
Region: 6th
Head Coach: Jeff Bowles
2014 Overall Record: 27-8
2014 District Record: 4-1
2014 Post-Season Finish: Lost in region first round

TOP PLAYERS (Coach’s Comments)

Jacob Bowles, 2015, SS/P, R/R, 5'11"/185, Southern Indiana signee.  2014 all-24th district and all-6th region regular season teams.  Bowles led the 2014 team in RBI and will be counted on even more in '15 to be a run producer (Profile and Video on PBR site)

Brayden Blair, 2015, Catcher, R/R, 5'10"/175.  Blair returns as one of the top catchers in this area.  His quickness and strong arm make him tough to run on.  He'll be counted on at the top of the order to make good use of his speed and help make the Charger offense go. (Profile and Video on PBR site)

Garrett Wilson, 2016, CF/RHP. R/R, 6'/175.  Started CF as sophomore last year and also saw some time in the rotation.  A 6.54 60-yd time at a PBR event last summer immediately put him on many college's radars.  Wilson has also been clocked at 85 mph on the mound so he'll be called upon to be an even bigger part of the success of the 2015 team. (Profile and Video on PBR site)

Jacob Moore, 2015, RF, R/R, 5'11"/185.  Moore's strong arm makes him a natural to pencil in as the 2015 RF again.  Increased offensive output will be asked as he makes his way into the middle of the Charger hitting order.  Good pop and better than average speed make him a great candidate for a breakout year.

TOP UNDERCLASSMEN

JRS Troy O'Brien (3B/P), Derrick Kromenacker (C/OF), and Michael Lobred (3B/P) will be integral parts of the success of the '15 team.

SOPHS Jacob Reece (1B/OF/RHP) and Mitchell Langley (OF/RHP) will be some youngsters that will be asked to make the jump from FR/JV to a very competitive varsity schedule.

Notable Losses

Chase Patton, Spalding University.  Chase was 2014 1st Team All-State along with 6th Region Player of the Year and it will be almost impossible to replace his 9-0 record on the mound.  He tossed a no-hitter in '14 along with 2 one-hitters

Zac Ching, IMG Academy (VCU signee).  Zac was also 1st Team All-State in '14 along with all-6th Region.

Alex Ralph, Bellarmine University.  Alex was also a member of the All-24th District team

Tyler Krauth, Cumberland University.  Tyler was an all-region and all-district performer on the mound in 2014.

Zach Masden was also all-24th district and all-6th region as a SR in 2014.

According to the Coach

The Chargers have won 11 consecutive district crowns spanning 3 district realignments and 2 different regions (8th & 6th).  Returning SR starters Brayden Blair (C), Jacob Bowles (SS/P, Southern Indiana signee), Jacob Moore (RF), and Hayden Davenport (LHP) look to lead a relatively young squad to a deeper post-season run.  Last year's early exit in the regional tourney has provided plenty of motivation for this off-season's work outs.  There should be plenty of pitching options this season so an increased offensive output has been the primary focus in preparation for 2015.
