TOP PLAYERS (Coach’s Comments)

Sam Dralle, 2015, 1B/3B/P, R/R, 5'11" 220, Cairn University, 3-1 54 2/3 IP, .227 OBA, 36 K, 1.54 ERA. Sam is a tough nosed pitcher who throws strikes.  He gets a ton of ground balls.  He pitched in some big games for us so far and will continue to do so this season. We have high expectations for Sam.

Noah Edmonson, 2015, 2B/SS/P, R/R, 6'2" 190, .314 AVG, 7 DBL, 15 RBI, 13 BB, 5 SB, 1 SV, 15 2/3 IP, .200 OBA, 3.13 ERA.  Noah is a big, strong, competitive young man who played all of last season after coming off an injury. He should have a statistically better season this year due to being 100% healthy.  He can plan any position outside of catcher and has sneaky quick range.

Ben Cole, 2015, OF/LHP, L/L,, 4-5, 1 SV, 47 1/3 IP, .266 OBA, 2.22 ERA.  Ben is a young man who doesn't seem to get rattled.  He will continue to battle through any situation. He has gotten bigger and stronger over the off season and will be a big piece of our pitching staff. He has the opportunity to earn some time in the outfield as well. Good bunter with good speed. John Halcomb, 2015, OF/P, R/R, 5'10" 155, .245 AVG, 18 R, 7 DBL, 1 TPL, 11 RBI, 20 BB, 5 SB.  John is a right fielder with great range and a strong arm.  Got confident as the season went on last year.  Played his best ball at the end of the season. Had a strong summer and fall.  We look for him to add pop at the top of the lineup. (Profile and Video on PBR site)

Bryce Spalding, 2015, OF/1B/P, R/R, 6'3" 215, Lincoln Trail, .225 AVG, 9 R, 5 DBL, 2 HR, 14 RBI, 2 SB.  Bryce is a 2 year captain who looks to have a great year. Very hard working, coachable young man.  Has gotten bigger and stronger over the off season and we are excited to have him in the lineup. (Profile and Video on PBR site)

TOP UNDERCLASSMEN

Russ Kerr, 2016, 3B/P, 5'11" 210, R/R, .250 AVG, 10 R, 6 DBL, 1 HR, 12 RBI.  Russ has extremely quick hands at the plate.  Last year was his first year of any high school baseball after sitting out his freshmen year with a torn acl. Russ has a ton of potential and works extremely hard.  Big, strong kid who is coachable and does what is asked of him.

Notable Losses

Drew Hayles, SS/P, playing at Central Alabama CC
Michael Justice, OF/P
Nick Sanders, OF/P

According to the Coach

Last year saw many new players in the lineup for us.  We only had 2 returning starters last season. This season we return 6 starters and a number of players who gained a lot of varsity experience.  On the mound we return 2 starters. We have a lot of options at each position as well as numerous options on the mound. Our strengths are the experience that the majority of our players were able to gain last season.  Playing in such a tough district and region coupled with playing tight games last season has prepared our young men for the grind again this season.

The 14th District is one of the toughest districts in the state.  It is tough to make it out of our district and even tougher to win it.  The 5 teams in our district are always tough and can beat anybody on any given night.  Each game in our three game district series is always a nail biter. The team who wins our district usually contends for a 4th region championship.  In terms of our region, there are several teams who will be tough this season as well as teams that can't be counted out.  There are numerous great coaches in our region who bring out the best in their teams.
