Season wrapped up Saturday with three games to decide the final three classifications state championships. As we move into summer baseball, we want to highlight some of 2016 top performers.

Player of the Year

2016 LHP/OF Evan Lee; Lee had a big year for the 2016 7A State Champion, Bryant Hornets. He anchored the middle of the lineup hitting 3^rd in that line up and pitched significant innings on the mound. He was not beat on the season and posted a season ERA under 2.0. He showed off his offensive ability on the biggest stage recording 3 hits in the state championship game including a home run. Lee is considered to be a rare two-way player at the next level, where he is committed to play for Arkansas.

Coach of the Year

Woodlawn’s head coach Tommy Richardson is our Coach of the year. Coach Richardson led the bears to a 2A State Championship, with a record of 28-1. Any team that has that tough of a record deserves recognition. The most impressive part of the 28-1 record is they reached this feet without a senior on the roster, as the Bears receive the majority of their production for players in the freshman and sophomore classifications.
