2016 Recruiting Trail: Some Position Players Eyeing D1 Schools

By Justin Burgess

Nick Lentz SS/RHP, Wakulla HS 2016

Lentz is a 6-foot-1 170 pound athletic player with good strength and athletic actions. Lentz has above average bat speed and an above average arm as his fastball can get into the upper 80’s off the mound. He has already been offered by a few junior colleges and the Naval Academy. Some bigger D1 schools such as FAU, Boston College, and Miami are showing serious interest. So far his play this summer has only drawn more interest from these schools as well as a few others. Don’t be surprised if Lentz commits by the end of the summer.

Gus Cunningham SS/RHP, Canterbury 2016

Cunningham is 6-foot-1 180 with a medium build and athletic frame. He is a sound defensive shortstop and swings the bat well enough to stay there. Gus is going up to Alabama and Samford for visits this coming week.

Bernard Gilot 1B, Apopka HS 2016

Gilot stands at 6-foot-1 230 pounds with a thick, wide, and strong body. He has very good bat strength and bat speed for his age. He already has average to above average ML power and has a good approach with a nice swing plane. As of right now, Bernard is getting looks from Louisville and Miami, but don’t surprised if a few more schools discover him this summer.
