2018 OUTLOOK

"Experience will be a strength for us.  We return 7 starters from last year, with 4 other platoon starters.  That experience should allow us to hit the ground running as the season starts. Pitching will be another strength of ours.  We only graduated one varsity pitcher.  We will rely on our veterans, as well as a few newcomers.  We have 8 pitchers I feel comfortable putting on the mound.

Offensively, it will be interesting to see where all the pieces fit together.  We’ve seen a lot of improvement from our hitters from last year.  Now, we just need to see where they all fit into the lineup to give us the best chance to score runs.  It will take some time to optimize our offensive order.  Once we do and the guys are comfortable with their roles, watch out.

Our starting defense will be very solid.  The interesting part will be to find out our depth at each position depending on who is pitching.  We have a lot of versatility--guys that can play multiple positions.  Our challenge will be to find out where those versatile guys can shine the most.

Our goal is to finish in the top 4 of the Western Valley Conference.  Finishing in the top 4 means we would compete in the championship series of the WVC Tournament.  Our team has been very focused in practice this spring.  If we continue to work hard and improve throughout the season, we should peak at the right time."
