2020 Prospect Showcase: Quick Hits

On Sunday Oct. 14th we hosted our 2020 Prospect Showcase at Grand Park in Westfield, IN. Below are a few quick reactions from the event.

TOOLSY PROSPECTS

+ One of the top uncommitted prospects in the state, SS Cooper Miles showed a sound tool set at the event. In the INF Miles showed fluid actions with feel for the position. He displays range to both glove side and in the hole. Exchange across the diamond is quick and clean and throws showed good carry at 81. At the plate, he used a short, quick and compact swing; spraying line drives using the middle of the field. 

+ OF Tyler Jakob started off the event by turning in the top 60 time with a 6.69. At the plate he uses an uphill bat path from the left side and ability to lift the baseball to the gaps. In the OF he possesses fluid footwork with a clean exchange and accuracy on throws to 3B and home at 83. 

CATCHING

+ Will Melby showed off a strong arm from the crouch at 82 on his pops to 2B and turned in a top pop time of 1.95. The physical built 6-foot-4 230 pound Mebly displayed some athleticism for his size. At the plate he flashed big power potential from the right side with pull side ability and posted an exit velo of 91. 

+ Nolan Bowser showed a sound tool set during the event. Behind the dish he has an athletic setup with good footwork and clean exchange on pops. Pops ranged from 1.94-2.00. At the plate the left handed hitting Bowser peppered line drives into the RCF gap.
