4A South Semifinal Match-ups

Hanover at Nansemond River, 6:30

Hanover was last year’s AAA state champ and returned most of their roster, making them an early favorite to repeat this year. The Hawks are 18-2 and defeated Jamestown on Monday to advance to the semifinals. Trevor Denton led the offense with 4 RBI. Expect to see senior righthander Derek Casey (UVA) on the mound for Hanover in this game as the Hawks look to punch a ticket to Liberty University.

Nansemond River won the Ironclad Conference tournament and dominated regular season play in Suffolk. The Warriors advanced Monday with their 16^th straight win overall against Woodrow Wilson. Trevor Riggs and Shane Woods had home runs in the victory.

Kings Fork vs Grafton, 4:30

Kings Fork defeated Churchland in the quarterfinals on Monday night. The Bulldogs scored 4 runs in the first and never looked back as Truman Boyd threw a complete game in the win. Kings Fork enters Wednesday’s action 14-9 overall.

Grafton is the Conference 19 tournament champion, having dominated the tournament by allowing only 1 run in 3 games. Grafton defeated Midlothian on Monday to propel them to the semifinals and has relied all season on dominant pitching and defense.
