All State Games: Instant Results Day 2

By: Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

The All State Games were hosted at Henderson State University and Ouachita Baptist University over the week end. The event saw 94 players compete in three games and pregame activities. The competition level was very good with some of the top in each class competing in the event.

Team White 5 vs Team Maroon 4

2018 MIF Garrett Cook and 2018 CIF/OF Ryan Daggs fueled Team White's offense. Cook hit a two single in the 1st while Daggs added while Daggs added an RBI double in the three run 2nd inning.

2019 RHP Lucas Calhoone was sharp for Team Maroon pitching 4 shutout innings after Team White jumped out to 5-0 lead in the first 3 innings.

Team Grey  4 vs Team Graphite 3

Pitching dominated the contest with Team Grey throwing some promising young arms. 2019 Dylan Adcock pitching 3 innings of hitless baseball before turning things over to the 2020's out of the bullpen. 2020 RHP Will Gross pitched 2 innings allowing 0 runs on 2 hits while striking out 2. 2020 RHP Kaden Glenn got into some trouble early in his inning of work but settled in minimizing the damage. 2020 RHP Luke Davenport faced the minimum the final inning to pick up the save.

2017 RHP/MIF Brandon Little had two hits for team white leading the day offensively for that group,

Team Red 5 vs Team Black 0

Team Red's pitching staff combined for a shut out pitching 7 innings allowing 4 hits while striking out 11. 2017 RHP Hayden Arnold (Little Rock commit) pitched 2 innings allowing 0 hits and 3 strikes out. 2017 RHP Logan Gilbertson (Central Arkansas commit) pitched 3 innings with 4 strike outs and 2 hits. 2018 RHP Connor McCollough(Oklahoma commit) worked the 6th with 2 strike outs. 2017 RHP Cade Tucker pitched a clean 7th with 2 strike outs.

2017 RHP/C/CIF Cade Tucker had the big offensive blow as he hit a 3 run home run in bottom of the 3rd to finish off Team's Red 4 run inning.

Most Valuable Player

2017 RHP/C/CIF Cade Tucker Conway High School
Tucker is a 6-foot-1 190-pound athlete with a large frame and a physical build. He displayed his versatility playing multiple positions. He was 3-9 offensively  with 6 RBI's . On the mound he worked 1 inning with two strike outs. His fastball worked  85-85 mph from a low 3/4 arm slot with late sink, he complimented his fastball with a sharp slider thrown 72-74 mph. Defensively he showed ability to play the infield with solid footwork and normal actions with some stiffness. He impressed behind the plate showing  off his strong arm throwing out 4 runners on attempted steals. His pop times ranged from 2.08-2.18 in game. Overall a physical player with the ability to play multiple positions.

Notes

The future is a bright, there were 10 2020 players participate in the event, each of them displayed the ability to compete at the high school level now, with projectable skill sets that make them intriguing to follow over the next 4 years of high school baseball.

There are several uncommitted players in 2017 class that showed the ability to compete at the collegiate level. I imagine a lot of them will make commitments over the next few months. It will be interesting to see who is still available the first week in March, when the High School season gets going.

We will continue to go through the pages and pages of notes taken from this event and compile complete reports over the next few weeks.  So stay tuned for more information from this event.
