A look at five players from western Arkansas that are still looking for colleges that fit what they are looking for both academically and athletically. These players are all being recruited and won’t be left on recruiting boards much longer.

2016 RHP Drew Young, Bentonville HS
Young is a 6-foot-1 205-pound RHP with a physical build and large frame. He pounds the bottom half of the strike zone with his 86-89 mph with slight run. He flashes a curveball with 11/5 break and late action 70-73 mph, but uses his fastball command for most of his success. Overall Young has good arm strength and repeatable delivery, he is an advanced high school pitcher who should get better overtime.

Carter Brown, 2016, RHP/OF Bentonville HS
Brown is a 6-foot-1 190 pound right hander with a large-frame and average build. He worked from an H ¾ arm slot with a quick clean arm. He repeated his mechanics with some effort. He commanded the strike zone with 3 pitches. He threw his fastball 84-86 with slight sink. His curveball was thrown 70-71 mph with gradual break, but was thrown for strikes. He commanded the change up, throwing the pitch with near fastball arm speed and arm side run at 73-76 mph. Overall Brown has a strong arm with a feel to pitch, in his defensive work he registered a 90 mph throwing from the outfield. I believe with some mechanically fixes he will throw harder, and be a solid pitcher at the collegiate level.

Thomas Broyles, 2016, OF, Fayetteville HS
Broyles is a 6-foot-1 185-pound outfielder with a medium frame and a physical build. He was the most impressive prospect in the showcase leading in every measurable tools. He ran a 6.59 in the 60, threw 86 mph from the outfield and produced exit speeds up to 91 mph. Defensively he plays through the baseball with a fluid exchange and an accurate arm with carry. Offensively he attacks the ball with fast bat speed and compact slight uphill bat path. He maintained balance and through extension. Overall Broyles is a very talented player and is ready to compete at the collegiate level.

Luke Price, OF, Dover HS, 2016
Price is a 6-foot-2, 195-pound outfielder, with a large frame and a muscular build. Defensively he makes good reads on balls, and throws with an accurate arm with carry. Offensively he had a solid approach hitting the ball to all fields, as he hit a single to right, center and a double down the left-field line. He attacks the ball with fast bat speed and a slight uphill swing path. Overall Price is an exceptional athlete with raw bat speed and he projects to get better.

Caleb Welchel, MIF, Huntsville HS, 2016
Welchel is a 6-foot-1 170-pound middle infielder with an athletic frame and build.  Defensively he works through the baseball with fluid footwork. He has a quick exchange throwing the ball 83 mph across the infield. Athletically he runs a 7.25 in the 60.  Offensively, he has a short compact line drive swing that has produces line drives on a consistent basis. He produces exit velocities up to 80 mph. Overall, Welchel is a solid defender, offensively he finds barrel consistently, and at this point his physical strength is his biggest weakness. He will be solid infielder as he moves onto the next level.
