Monday night Benedictine beat Hanover 4-3 in ten innings in what was probably the game of the year in Richmond and maybe even the entire state. It was the Jay Woolfolk show in Hanover last night as he led the offensive charge for the Cadets and came on in relief to get the win for the Cadets.

Casey Green got the start for Benedictine and threw a very strong seven innings for Benedictine. Green only allowed three unearned runs during his outing. They all came in the third inning when Hanover had one hit and cashed in on two Benedictine errors that would allow the Hawks to make it 3-0.

Benedictine would get on the board with a Jack Anderson infield single in the top of the fourth. Anderson's single would score Woolfolk and make it 3-1 Hanover.

The Cadets would continue to creep back in the game as Woolfolk would hit a mammoth shot out of center field to make it 3-2 with Hanover still leading.

The Hawks were one strike away from a victory in the top of the seventh when Matt Sylvia delivered a double to left center keeping the game alive for Benedictine. Three walks later Benedictine scored to tie this one at 3-3.

Green would give way to Woolfolk for the eighth through the tenth and Woolfolk would shut it down, striking out eight along the way.

In the top of the tenth Woolfolk led off the inning with a triple to right center. Woolfolk would later score on a throwing error and that would end up being the go ahead run as Benedictine would win this one with a final of 4-3.

Green threw seven innings, allowed three unearned runs, struck out five, and only walked one.

Woolfolk was two-for-three with a triple and a home run. Woolfolk also scored three runs and had two RBI on the night. On the mound he threw three innings in relief and struck out eight while allowing no runs and no hits.

For Hanover Eric Anderson threw six and two-thirds, allowed three earned runs, and struck out nine.
