Battle of the Borders Complete Recap

20 players from Arkansas combined to make up the Battle of the Borders roster, which is competing in Dallas this week. Arkansas Prospects owner Andy Menard put this roster together which is comprised of players from Arkansas Prospects, East Coast Baseball, EM Majors, Extra Innings Sticks, Perfect Timing Baseball and Southern Athletics Baseball. This roster is comprised of some of the top players in 2017-2020 classes.  Coach Menard looks to have put together the right mix as Team Arkansas won their first two games on Friday. See Recap Here.

Saturday Team Arkansas defeated Team New Mexico 3-1 before falling today to Team Texas, 11-6.

Team Arkansas defeated Team New Mexico in a pitchers dual Saturday night to advance to the championship.

2018 LHP Evan Hiatt pitched 4 innings allowing just 2 hits and 1 unearned run, while striking out 8, leaving the game tied 1-1. He was relieved by 2017 INF/RHP Logan Easley who pitched 2 innings allowing two hits and striking out 1. 2018 RHP Will Richards pitched the 7th to pick up his second save in as many days. Richardson struck out 1 in his inning of work.

Offensively the 2017 MIF Casey Martin, 2017 CIF Paxton Wallace and 2017 INF Logan Easley continued to carry the offense.

Martin got the offense going with a ground rule double, and scored on an errant throw as he stole third base.

Team New Mexico tied the game in the 4th, both teams remained scoreless until the top of the 7th. In the 7th, Wallace reached on an infield single, advanced on a passed ball, Easley followed with an infield single. A balk plated Wallace and a 2018 C Andrew Stanley drove in Easley with a single to right.

Team Arkansas advanced to the finals of Battle of the Borders looking to be the first group of Arkansans to win the event, some untimely errors and a strong offensive day from Team Texas proved to be too much for this group to overcome as they fell 11-6.

Team Arkansas received a solid offensive effort on the day, here is a few players that stood out.

2018 MIF Pate Fullerton a single, and 2 base on balls.

2017 MIF Casey Martin a single, a double and a triple with an RBI.

2017 CIF Paxton Wallace two singles and 2 RBIs.

2019 C Cason Tollett hit a double

2020 CIF Cayden Wallace hit a single and a triple.

2019 OF Blake Adams hit a single

On the mound Team Arkansas used 4 pitchers to get through 8 innings of work. 2018 RHP Wade Beasley worked 4 innings allowing just 2 earned runs while striking out 2. 2017 CIF/RHP Paxton Wallace struck out 4 in two innings. 2020 RHP Tyler Cacciotti had 2 strike outs in an inning and a third. 2019 RHP/OF Blake Adams struck out 1 in two thirds of an inning.

Overall the group went 3-1 on the week end, with several players turning heads of some of the top talent evaluators in the country.
