Zionsville 8  Bloomington South 3

The late game Saturday brought #7 Zionsville to host #18 Bloomington South. The Eagles took advantage of a strong start by Junior Parker Dunshee who sat 83-84 on his fastball and introduced a late breaking curve as the game progressed that kept South hitters off balance. Focused approaches at the plate helped put eight runs across as Zionsville recorded 9 hits and 6 walks with seven players scoring runs.

Zionsville broke out early in the top of the third with a sac fly from Dunshee. Senior First baseman Joel Trewatha followed with a long drive over the head of Duke commit Nolan Rogers scoring two more. Bloomington South did jump on a Dunshee fastball to close the third inning when Sophomore catcher Joe Crider sent a Dunshee fastball over the centerfield wall that closed the gap to one.

It was all Zionsville from that point on. The guests brought home three in the sixth on an RBI double from Senior Center Fielder Drew Small and a 2 RBI single from Sophomore Ben Kocher. Kocher showed a good approach at the plate all day with a swing that will translate into a lot of line drives and extra base hits.

Bloomington South - Baechtold: 3-3, 1 R; Crider: 1-3, 1 HR, 3 RBI
