Many of the prospects slated to join us at this first-time event will be making their PBR showcase debuts. We’re excited to see which prospects among them emerge from the event as high-follows moving forward.

Of the prospects headed to Pullman with a reputation, two catchers, Garrett Powell (Kenwood, 2020) and Emmanuel Scott (St. Ignatius, 2021), stand out behind the plate. Scott was recently a standout at the Underclass Invitational and is back for one more showing before the high school season starts. Scott has an athletic, projectable frame, an easy quiet swing and advanced actions behind the plate.

As for Powell, the solidly-built backstop was in attendance at October’s Class of 2020 Showcase from The MAX in McCook. There, the Kenwood catcher flashed a strong right-handed swing and soft hands behind the plate.

As for infielders, uncommitted junior MIF Kevin Coe Jr. (Whitney Young) will be one to watch. Coe Jr. has improved everytime we see him and is currently ranked in the Top 100 in th state. Coe, a switch-hitter, has a feel to hit from both sides of the plate and natural infield actions.

Kevin Coe Jr. (6.6.18)

OF Marc Babicz (St. Laurence, 2020; uncommitted) joined Powell at the fall’s Class of 2020 Showcase where he strung together a statistically impressive day. He ran a sub-7.00 mark in the 60-yard dash, topped 85 mph on his throws home from the outfield, and recorded an 89 mph high exit velocity from the tee.
