Class One and Two Final Four Matchups Set

And then there were four. Class One and Two quarterfinals are now in the books, and the Final Four is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday at Meador Park in Springfield is set.

Class 1
Oran and Santa Fe were victorous in their games today and will meet at 10:00am in the first game of the semi-finals. Oran defeated Naylor 4-1 to advance, while Santa Fe got by Canton 13-4. These teams are evenly matched and should be an entertaining and exciting game.

The other semi-final matchup will pair Norwood and Sturgeon, at 1:00. Norwood got by a talented Weaubleau team 11-1, while Sturgeon defeated New Haven 6-1 to advance. The edge here tilts toward Norwood, but Sturgeon should prove to be a formidable foe.

Class 2
Valle Catholic and  Summit Christian will face off at 4:00 in the first Class Two semi-final game. Valle came back to defeat Twin River 7-6, and is playing as well as anyone in the state, regardless of class. Summit Christian  got by Tipton 8-2, and are a team capable of putting up big run totals. The matchup of the two teams will be the defense, pitching, and timly hitting of Valle versus the explosive offense of Summit Christian.

Clever and South Calloway will play at 7:00 on Wednesday. Clever defeated Hartville 9-5 in a tough, well played game by both teams. South Calloway slugged their way to a 19-2 win over Schuyler County. Clever has been at the top of our rankings and is the favorite to win the Class Two title in front of the home crowd, but will have to get by a tough South Calloway team first.

Previews of all four teams in each class will come early next week, with our highly debated predictions for who will advance to the championship game.
