Class Three and Four Quarterfinal Playoff Results



In Quarterfinal action around the State:

Class 4

Willard 6      Helias 5 (8 innings): Willard came from behind to defeat Helias thanks to the offensive output of Trevor Bowling.  Bowling drove in two runs in the sixth to tie the game at 5-5 and hit a walk off bases loaded single in the bottom of the eighth inning to advance Willard to the Final Four. This is the third appearance for Willard in the state semi-finals.  Willard will take on Parkway North at 7:00pm Thursday night.

 

Rockwood Summit 13       Cape Central 2: Rockwood Summit earned their first trip to the Final Four, slugging their way to a 13-2 quarterfinal victory. Brian Quasebarth shut down the Central offense, which had been hot as of late, striking out seven and scattering four hits in a short six inning game. Summit got a pair of two run home runs in an eight run first inning off the bats of Matt Kaysinger and Eric Beisel. The star of the Summit offense was Jacob Manier, who had three hits, four RBIs, and three runs scored on the afternoon. Summit will take on No. 1 ranked Liberty on Thursday at 4:00 on Thursday.

Class 3

Westminster 11   Mexico 1: Tate Matheny continues to lead Westminster as the Wildcats strive for back-to-back Class Three championships, going three for three with a double, RBI, and four runs scored. Connor Einerston contributed with a solo homerun as the Wildcats cruised to a short six inning win. LHP Ben Lovell threw six innings of four hit ball, allowing just the one run, while striking out two and not surrendering a walk. Westminster will play Marshall at 1:00 next Thursday.

 

Savannah 9   Oak Park 3: Blake McFadden hit a bases loaded, three RBI double in the fourth inning to put Savannah up 4-1, a lead that they would build on en route to a 9-3 win and a second consecutive trip to Springfield for the Final Four. Tyler Wilt picked up the win on the mound with his best performance of the season. Savannah will play the winner of the Lutheran South-Kennett game that will be played today.

 

Marshall 5    Logan-Rogersville 4: Zach Bishop hit a grand slam in the fifth inning to tie the game at 4-4, and Tyler Cott’s sacrifice fly later in the fifth put Marshall up 5-4, and that is how the game would end, sending Marshall to the Class Three semi-finals. Marshall will play Westminster at 1:00 on Thursday.


Lutheran South and Kennett will play today their Quarterfinal Matchup today at 4:00 at Lutheran HS.
