Class of 2013 Spotlight: Wyatt Fones from Wentzville Holt HS

Fones was the most polished catching prospect at the St. Louis Preseason Showcase, as he showed well in all facets of the game.  Defensively, the 6-foot-1, 170-pound Fones displayed soft hands and athletic feet behind the plate while receiving bullpens, along with good instincts blocking balls in the dirt. He also showed carry on his throws (76 mph) while delivering consistent pop times on the bag, ranging between 1.92, 1.93, and 2.01. Offensively, he demonstrated a balanced, level swing with excellent barrel whip through the zone. He consistently squared up the ball while driving the ball to all fields.
