PBR commitment spotlights aim to give ball players a chance to touch a bit on their recruiting story in the hopes that they can help answer questions some readers or parents might have in their own recruiting journey. Today the spotlight focuses on Christian Medick, a 6'4 RHP from Jordan, MN. Christian is a big kid with a large overall frame and high hip line. Christian shows an awareness above average for a high schooler his size. He has great body control with repeatable over-the-top delivery. It also keeps the CB and CH in the same arm spot with similar arm speed on all pitches. As he strengthens his lower half and creates more leg drive at the next level, the ceiling for Christian could be very high! We want to congratulate Christian on his commitment to the University of Mary and wish you nothing but the best in the future!

PBR: Why did you choose the U of Mary?
I chose U-Mary because it was always my goal to play collegiate baseball. U-Mary gave me that opportunity, I loved everything about the school, especially the coaching staff, I established a very good relationship with all of them and I knew it was the place for me. I love the direction U-Mary is headed and I can't wait to compete in the NSIC

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Augsburg, SMSU, Minnesota Crookston, UW-Stout, Dakota State, a few other D3 schools, and several JUCO’s.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with him (Phone calls, on-campus visits, etc.)?
The Minnesota High School coach’s baseball association showcase is where they first saw me pitch. Shortly after I received a text message to meet with one of the coaches and I loved everything I heard about U-Mary. 

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
Just the direction this program is headed, U-Mary is going to surprise some people in these upcoming years and I'm excited to be part of that.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
Definitely my parents, they knew I always wanted to play college baseball and they pushed me to continue to work hard and never give up because the best always comes out.

PBR: What plans do you have in store for you in your freshman season at your new school?
I want to compete for innings on the mound right away. I want to contribute my freshman year. I have to work for everything and I am very excited for that challenge.

PBR: What advice would you give to others that are currently or will soon be going through the recruiting process?
Have patience, I didn't get into the recruiting process until the middle of my Junior year and it started slow. But there was no better feeling than being recruited, especially for something that I love, which is baseball.

PBR: Are you competing in any fall or winter sports?
Football in the Fall, our team is making a deep playoff run hoping to win a state championship. 

PBR: In a few sentences, tell us about your high school team in terms of goals for the season and strengths your team possesses that will be pivotal in helping to get there (pitching, defense, offense, chemistry, etc.). 
We made a very deep run in the legion playoffs last year and we expect to carry that momentum over to this spring season, we were a very young team and we bring back a majority of our line-up with very excellent pitching. I know everyone on the team is ready to make a deep run in the state playoffs, and we have the talent and the mindset to do that for sure.
