Scouting Report

2017 PBR Future Games- Uncommitted 6-foot-5, 220-pound right-handed pitcher. #282 ranked prospect in 2019 PBR Overall Rankings. methodical leg lift that allows his longer arm swing to sync up before his fast arm delivers out of a high ¾ slot. His slider shows the makings a future swing and miss pitch with true-slider shape that is short and late-breaking at 77-78. The way he gets down the mound, it looks like he is going to swallow the batter, and he has the look and stuff of a future big time closer, although he has the durable frame of a starter. Fastball was 87-89 mph, curveball was 77-78 mph, and above average changeup was 76-78 mph.

3/18/17- 6-foot-4, 220-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. Large build on mound, stretch only, shows body control in delivery, gathers over rubber and drives ball downhill to plate. Fastball was 83-84 mph, flashes of life, with extension to plate. Projects to continue to add velo with size and quicker arm path. Small break on tight spinning curveball with depth and 10/4 shape. Slight cutting action with solid fade on changeup with avg. command. 8.24 runner. Easy load and stride, works mid/away, some length to contact, present strength, flashes of hard contact, 80 mph exit velocity. Solid actions, avg. mobility and quickness, sure hands, accurate to bag, 83 mph arm strength across field.

PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?

Pedersen: I chose to go to Mizzou largely because of the fantastic coaching staff they have there. Another big part was being able to play in the SEC and getting to play a top team every weekend.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Pedersen: Some of the other schools that I was considering were Iowa, Ole Miss, Arizona, Wake Forest, and Southern Miss.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?

Pedersen: The first team that Mizzou saw me was at the 2017 PBR Future Games in Indiana. We kept in touch over the summer and when I went on my visit that October, I loved it and committed while I was there.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?

Pedersen: Yes, it is really nice to be done with the whole process and just focus on development and having fun with it.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?

Pedersen: I felt like all my choices would have been good fits, just Mizzou seemed to be above the rest to me.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?

Pedersen: Joining the Minnesota Blizzard program was the most important thing for getting me to where I am today. It exposed me to a new level of baseball that I didn't know was there and pushed me to catch up with everyone else.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?

Pedersen: I didn't really know what to expect for the recruiting process. I went into my sophomore season of high school throwing 82 and hit a 91 during the same summer so things took off out of nowhere. It was made pretty easy for me by not having to worry about it during the years before and then being given the opportunity to throw in front of hundreds of scouts at the Future Games made it much easier.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?

Pedersen: I do not know this but my goal is to be someone that makes a difference right in the beginning and hopefully get a starter or key reliever position.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?

Pedersen: My most memorable baseball memory to date has to be getting out of a bases-loaded jam in section playoffs my sophomore year and eventually going to state.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?

Pedersen: I am not sure who the best player I have competed against would be but pitching at the Future Games, PG National, and Jupiter has to be the top competition that I have had to go up against.
