PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?

Timmer: I choose Grand View because it fits everything that I was looking for in a school: It’s in a urban city along with being a smaller private school at the same time. It has my intended major and I have the opportunity to play baseball at a high level.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Timmer: Many of the DII and DIII schools in the upper Midwest including Concordia St.Paul, Upper Iowa, SMSU, Winona St, Gustavus, UW La Crosse, and Luther.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?

Timmer: I sent Coach Yacinich and Coach Brinker my recruiting tape along with my stats from school ball and summer. From there it was instant connection between the three of us.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?

Timmer: For sure, it’s a big stress reliever, especially committing in August so I’d be able to enjoy my fall season with Northstar and having security for the upcoming off-season.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?

Timmer: Coach Yacinich’s wisdom. With him being coach the Head Coach at Grand View for the last 45 years, he’s been through it all, which I have full trust in him to develop me as a player and as a man. Also having Coach Brinker being a left-handed MINF like I am, I felt like I could learn a lot from him.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?

Timmer: My family most importantly. My dad Mike, my mom Beth and my sister Lauren have constantly supported me through this journey.  Mike Kvasnicka, Ty McDevitt and Alec Crawford at Northstar have been a crucial part of my development over the last 3 years. Also, Dylan Thomas, Chase Hentges and everyone at HTP have been so beneficial to me as well. I have also met some great teammates and people who have pushed me to where I am today.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?

Timmer: I didn’t have much expectation going into it. It’s a very fast and exciting cycle. It was a lot more difficult than I thought though to ultimately decide on a program. I met a lot of great coaches and people along the way. That being said, it was tough to turn some of them down, but Grand View was a perfect fit.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?

Timmer: Give me a chance off the bat to compete for a spot in the Middle Infield and give me a great shot to show off my game.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?

Timmer: Winning the section championship this past year, and playing in state. I've also had a successful year, being All Conference Honorable Mention, making the Perfect Game All Tourney Team in High Point this summer along with batting .476 in the summer, but definitely committing to GV this August was the biggest accomplishment.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?

Timmer: Being his teammate the last 2 years, and playing against him in club ball over the last years, I’d definitely say Nick Juaire.
