Curran Davis, Lucas Scarlett Lead Evansville North to a Win

Jasper, IN - New Haven and Evansville North faced off to finish off their games in the Hall of Fame Baseball Classic. Late runs proved to be the difference for Evansville North.

Both teams went scoreless through the first two innings. North put up a run in the top of the third when starting pitcher Curran Davis (2013) hit a one out bases loaded ground ball and barely beat the turn to first. New Haven responed with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning scoring on a RBI single to right from Caleb Heckley (2012) and a ground out RBI from Kyle Sovine (2012), giving New Haven a 2-1 advantage.

North's offense opened up the game in the fifth. Davis tied up the game with a bases loaded sac fly to deep center. After Alex McCune (2012) walked to load the bases again Lucas Scarlett (2013) hit a bases clearing double to right field, putting North up 5-1.

New Haven was able to bring a run around in the bottom half, but that's all that Davis would allow throughout the game. Davis threw all seven allowing just no earned runs and sat betweeen 79-82 with his fastball.

In the sixth North added to their lead with five runs. They scored their first run on an error, then two batters later Davis drove in his third run of the game with another sac fly. After a walk, Scarlett came up with two runners on base and drove a fastball over the left center field wall for a three run homerun, putting North on top 10-3. They added one run in the seventh to seal the victory.
