Catholic HS 5 vs Greenwood HS 3

Catholic defeated Greenwood 5-3 in the first game of the 7A/6A Central conference play.

The Rockets received a complete game from 2016 LHP Dillon Thompson. Thompson picked up the win pitching 7 innings scattered 6 hits, with 8 strike outs, 1 walk and allowing just 2 earned runs.

3 of Greenwood’s 6 hits were of the bunt variety, using their plus athleticism to their advantage.

2017 MIF Cameron Tissue hit a single in the second that drove in two runs, to put the Rockets up 4-0.

Greenwood received a very competitive effort from 2017 RHP Blake Pschier who threw 4 innings of relief allowing just 1 run while striking out 3.

Catholic HS 3 vs Greenwood HS 0

Catholic received a huge night from 2018 LHP Evan Hiatt who threw a complete game 1 hitter, with 12 strike outs and 0 walks.

The sophomore threw two pitches for strike, pounding the strike zone with his fastball and a sharp swing and miss curveball.

Offensively the Rockets received contributions from 2016 OF Joe Myers who hit a sac fly in the third. In the fourth 2016 OF Lance Harville-Thomas his a solo home run to push the score to 3-0.

The Greenwood pithcing staff threw well enough to keep the contest close. The bulldogs used three pitchers including 2018 RHP Connor Noland, 2016 RHP Blaise Lomon, and 2017 RHP Cooper Van Kooten. Noland took the loss allowing, 1 earned run in 3 innings of work with 1 strike out. Loman pitched 2.1 innings with 5 strike outs. Van Kooten came in an relief of Lomon with the bases loaded and worked out of a jam to record 2 outs.
