Stevens would advance to second on a one out single by the DH Cody Tolleson and come around to score on a safety squeeze bunt by the SS Chandler Hall. Tolleson would cross the plate with the third run of the inning on a fielder’s choice ground out by CF Mason Michael giving Kickapoo a 3-0 lead.

On the offense of Kickapoo, heach coach Jason Howser commented, “With our skill set as hitters, we have some guys who can drive the ball to the gap and we have to be able to manufacture runs with hits and runs, sac bunts and steal, and we did all of those things well today.”

Justin Stockham picked up the win, throwing a complete game in eight two pitches (of which sixty two pitches were strikes) allowing four hits and striking out eight. He kept the Lebanon offense off balance all afternoon with good control of his off-speed pitches and consistently hitting his spots.

“Justin is a pitcher; we let him call his own game, and he has command of five pitches and threw them all for strikes today, ” said Howser. “We were extremely pleased that he was able to pitch backwards, mix in some pitches and spot his fastball on top of everything else.”
