Daily Game Round up for May 2nd



No. 1 Liberty 5      Blue Springs 9: Blue Springs knocked off the No. 1 team in the state on Wednesday afternoon, 9-5. Kyle Reed went three for three with three runs scored and Corbin Hare surrendered six hits and struck out three in a complete game upset. 

No. 3 Westminster 13    Lutheran North 0: Westminster won their sixteenth game in a row, shutting out Lutheran North, 13-0. Once again, senior Tate Matheny led the Westminster offense, going three for four with a homerun (ninth on the season), double and three RBIs. Brett Bond had a perfect three for three day with a triple and two RBIs, while Connor Larson went two for two with a triple, four RBIs, and three runs scored.  Glen Colvin silenced the North bats, allowing one hit over four innings.

No. 6 Vianney 10 DuBourg 0: Matt Brown had a two for three afternoon with a double, two RBIs, and two runs scored and Tyler Picha went one for three with three RBIs to lead Vianney over DuBourg.

No. 7 Lees Summit West 8          North Kansas City 2: Matt Fultz went two for three with two homeruns and four RBIs, and Monte Harrison went one for two with a homerun to power the Lee's Summit West offense. Harrison also walked twice and scored three times on the afternoon. Ryne Dowling picked up the win, throwing four innings and giving up five hits. Alex Lange picked up the save, throwing three innings striking out two and surrendering two hits.

No. 9 Kennett 16   South Peniscott 6: Daniel Lockhert, Justin Smith, Logan Dollins, Adam Grantham, Collin Smith, Tyson Campbell and Kevonte Mitchell had RBI hits in a ten run first inning, highlighted by a Logan Dollins two run homerun. Campbell, Dollins, Mitchell, and Grantham each finished the game with two hits; Campbell, Dollins, and Mitchell collected three RBIs a piece in the blowout win.

No. 11 Parkway South 3          Eureka 0: Parkway South is now 2-0 against Eureka, defeating the Wildcats for the second time in as many days. Michael Patterson threw a complete game three hitter. Jacob Brentz went one for four with an RBI and Parker Bettendorf had three hits and scored three runs 

No. 12 Francis Howell Central 10    Francis Howell North 3: Ryan Howard paced the Howell Central offense, going two for five with a double, three RBIs, and two runs scored, while Zach Isham went three for four with a double and an RBI. Joe Toesnkoetter had a two for four game with two RBIs.

No. 13 Crystal City 10     Herculaneum 0: Alex Winkleman struck out thirteen batters over six innings, allowing only two hits to pick up the win. Nick Rothweiler led the offense, going two for four with a homerun, double, three RBIs and two runs scored.

No. 20 Blue Springs South 9               Oak Park 8: Blue Springs South scored four runs in the seventh to come from behind in defeating Oak Park, 9-8. Taylor Sprague had three hits to lead the Blue Springs offense, while Gehrig Hudson singled, doubles, and scored two runs.

No. 17 Francis Howell 3           Hickman 4 (9 innings): Hickman avenged their loss at the hands of Francis Howell last season in dramatic fashion. Jared Hyler hit a walk off homerun in the bottom of the ninth inning for the win. Hickman starter Jonathan Jones threw a career high eight innings, allowing five hits and striking out three.

No. 19 SLUH 4       Chaminade 3: Chaminade knocked off No. 19 SLUH 4-3 in a Metro Catholic league contest. Michael Schwarze was the Chaminade offense going two for four with two homeruns and three RBIs.

Webb City 7           Nixa 4: Breckin Williams picked up the win on the mound, allowing four runs on nine hits, and led the offense going three for four with a double and two RBIs. Klay James and Seth Watkins each had two hits and two RBIs.

Lafayette 9 Oakville 2: Lafayette defeated Oakville for the second day in a row behind Peter Williams’ five hitter with eight strikeouts. Anders Fladda collected two RBIs and scored a run, while Adam Echele, Tyler Manna, and Nick Burdell each had an RBI.

Marquette 15        Fox 3: Sean Ullrich powered the Marquette offense going two for three with a double, homerun, four RBIs, and three runs scored. Chris Lenzen had a three for four afternoon with a double and three RBIs, while throwing five innings to pick up the win, surrendering three earned runs to pick up the win on the mound. Keith Greishaber added a homerun. 

DeSmet 6    Seckman 1: Jacob Verhoff struck out eight in a complete game effort, scattering eight hits. Chris Arends, Brandon Gutzler, Conner Harrison, Jacon Unnerstall, and Connor Wardlaw each had an RBI for DeSmet. 

St. Dominic 10      O’Fallon Christian 0: Seven St. Dominic players had an RBI, led by Michael Achelpohl who went three for four with two RBIs and two runs scored.  Jacob Wehde threw five innings of two hit ball, fanning six batters.

Cape Central 7      Sikeston 5: Christian Cavaness went four for four with two RBIs and swiped two bases to pace the Central offense. Matt Chism had two hits and drove in two.  Chase Hagerty went the distance, surrendering three hits and striking out six to pick up the win.

Malden 5     Senath 2: Dylan Earnhart threw a complete game five hitter. Tanner Murphy went one for two with a double.

Cairo 3 Pilot Grove 2: Aaron Barrett went the distance, giving up one eraned run and striking out eight in Cairo's 3-2 win. Cairo scored a walk off victory on a bases loaded walk.
