Fayetteville High School 3 vs Har-Ber High School 2

Fayetteville HS defeated Har-Ber HS twice Monday in a 7A West double header at Fayetteville. The Bulldogs continued their winning ways behind strong pitching performances.

Game 1
This was billed as a great pitchers dual, and lived up through it through 5 innings. 2015 LHP Weston Rogers pitched for Har-Ber, while 2015 RHP Andy Pagnozzi pitched for Fayetteville. This isn’t the first time these two matched up against each other and it won’t be the last. Rogers is an Arkansas commit, while Pagnozzi is an Ole Miss commit, so these two will battle in SEC play over the next few year.

On Tuesday they were both sharp. Pagnozzi picked up the win pitching 7 innings, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits while striking out 9. Although Rogers picked up the loss he was sharp pitching 5 innings giving up 0 earned runs, scattering 6 hits and striking out 7.

Fayetteville took advantage of every mistake Har-Ber made scoring 8 runs on 10 hits. In the 3rd after 2 Wildcat errors, 2015 1B/OF Blake Power drove a ball over the left-field wall for a 3 run homerun and push the Bulldog lead to 4-1. In the 6th the Fayetteville extended its lead to 8-1 highlighted by 2015 OF/RHP Cody Davenport 2 out single that drove in 2 runs.

Davenport had a great game going 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

2016 OF Adam Scoggins hit an opposite field 2 run homerun in the top of 7th to make the final score 8-3.

Game 2
2015 RHP/OF Cody Davenport showed his versatility by throwing a complete game for Fayetteville, and picking up the win. Davenport pitched 7 innings, allowing 0 earned runs, while striking out 9.

Kurt Phillips for Har-ber was very tough, after surrendering 2 to the Bulldogs in the 1st, he settled in holding them scoreless for the next 4 innings. In the 6th Fayetteville took advantage of an error to score their 3rd and final run of the contest.

Offensively Fayetteville was paced by 2016 OF Thomas Broyles. Broyles went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored.
