The Hardball Summit is an annual event hosted at Arkansas State University featuring the four high schools from Jonesboro. It is a great event that honors the seniors for each team, and allows the players the opportunity to play in a great atmosphere. This year’s match-ups paired Valley View High School vs Westside High School, and Jonesboro High School vs Nettleton High School.
Valley View High School 14 vs Westside High School 1
Valley View HS defeated Westside 13 -1, in 5 innings. Offensively they were led by 2015 MIF Tucker Hydric. Hydric went 3-3 with 2 stolen bases. On the mound Ethan Dunham picked up the win pitching 2 innings.
Jonesboro High School 1 vs Nettleton HS 0
Game 2 of the double header was a well-played game with both teams pitching multiple players due to having conference match ups later in the week. Jonesboro scored on a double in the 4th inning by 2016 OF CJ Neal and that completed the scoring for the night.
William Batson picked up the win for Jonesboro pitching 4 innings allowing 0 earned runs 3 hits and striking out 4.
Nettleton was led offensively by 2016 CIF Jordan Volner who went 1 for 2 with walk.
Notes
2016 RHP Justin Swecker threw a complete game no-hitter to defeat Fouke, Monday night. This is Swecker’s 3rd no-hitter of the season.
