Bryant High School 8 vs Conway High School 7

Friday May 1^st was the rematch of a 13 inning battle that ended with Conway on top 8-7 and subsequently atop the 7A Central Standings. This time around Bryant found a way to come out on top with an 8-7 win in regulation.

Conway HS got off to a hot start with 2018 LHP Jordan Wicks striking out the side in the top of the first inning and then the Wampus Cat offense scored 2 in the bottom of the first. 2017 MIF Kolby Reck drove the ball through the right-center gap, followed by a 2015 MIF Jacob Adams double to plate Reck, and with two outs 2017 CIF Cade Tucker drove a ball to left field to score Adams.

Although Bryant threatened in the 2^nd and 3^rd Conway pitching kept them off the boards.

In the bottom of the 3^rd Conway tacked on 2 more runs. Reck reached on a passed ball, advanced on an Adams single. Tucker moved both runners over with a groundball to the pitcher. With two outs Conduit hit a balled that spun on the foul line on the first base side, as Bryant (and the umpire) tried to determine fair or foul Reck and Adams hustled home to extend the lead 4-0.

Bryant answered right back in the top of the 4^th scoring off a couple hit by pitches, a 2015 OF Drew Tipton sac fly and 2015 RHP/1B Jason Hasting 2 out RBI Single, to close the gap 4-3.

In the bottom of the 5^th Conway scored 3 runs highlighted by a 2 RBI double by Wicks. The score after 5 was 7-3 Bryant.

In the top of the 6^th Bryant scores 5 runs to take the lead. With the large blow coming by 2015 CIF/RHP Blake Patterson’s grand slam to give Bryant the lead 8-7.

Once Bryant took the lead they handed the ball to 2015 RHP Blaine Knight, and the game was over. Knight recorded the final 6 outs pounding the strike zone with his fastball and sharp slider.

This was the second meeting for these teams, but it may not be the last with state tournament starting in two weeks, and they both appear to be in the elite 7A classification.
