Daily Roundup: April 1 Games



4A Top 25

No. 7 Hobart 10 Washington Township 0 – Brandon Murray threw all five innings allowing just two hits and striking out 11. Drey Devereaux led the offense going 3-3 with a double, triple, four RBI, and a run scored. Tyrus Joseforsky was 2-3 with a double and scored twice in the win. 

No. 9 Floyd Central 5 No. 15 Carroll 2 – Kyle Beach picked up the win throwing four innings alloiwng one unearned run, two hits, and striking out five. At the plate he was 2-3 with two RBI. Aiden Cora and Trey Fulton each went 1-2 with a RBI and a run scored.

No. 10 Lake Central 12 2A No. 8 Bishop Noll 2 – Brenden Seren picked up the win striking out five of the six batters he faced, he also hit a grand slam. Alec Olund led the offense picking up three hits, one for a double, and driving in two runs. Johnny Gbur had two hits and also drove in two runs in the win.

No. 12 Portage 5 Elkhart Memorial 4 – Kevin Jones threw 4.2 innings striking out six and Hunter Kraynak picked up the win throwing 2.1 shutout innings, striking out three. Jones was 3-4 with a RBI, Hunter Thorn tripled and drove in a run, and Christopher Klenk was 2-4 with a run scored. Jared Ford and Sam Schest each drove in a run.

Carmel 7 No. 13 Zionsville 0 – Ryan Campbell got the win throwing six innings allowing just four hits and striking out two.  Parker Massman led the offense going 2-3 with two doubles, three RBI, and a run scored. Thomas Baldwin was 2-4 with a solo homerun, Tony Gianinni and Evan Nixon each went 2-4, and Sam Berry and Garret Pferre each drove in a run and scored once. 

No. 22 Jeffersonville 14 Plainfield 4 – Jeff scored seven runs in the second and six runs in the third to get their first win of the year. Dawson Willis got the win throwing 5.1 innings allowing just one run. Josh Burke was 3-3 with two doubles, a RBI, and three runs scored. Trey Dempsey was 2-3 with a RBI and two runs scored.

3A Top 10

No. 3 Crawfordsville 12 Fountain Central 5 – Connor Smith picked up the win going four innings allowing two runs on three hits and striking out five. Dane Baldwin threw two innings striking out five and allowing one hit. Trent Johnson and Michael Minks led the offense each going 2-5 with three RBI, Johnson also scored once. Nick Corbin was 1-2 with a RBI and two runs scored and Shad Conrad and Baldwin each drove in a run. 

No. 10 Griffith 13 Calumet 3 – Brett Tauber got the win throwing two innings in relief allowing no hits, no runs, and striking out four. Matt Colomes led the offense going 3-3 with a double, homerun, four RBI, and three runs. Kyle Buikema was 2-3 with a double, two RBI, and two runs scored, Anthony Quintero tripled, drove in two, and scored once, and Kody Hoese double, drove in a run, and scored three times.

2A/1A Top 10

Western 6 No. 2 Lafayette Central Catholic 3 – Evan Warden picked up the win throwing 3.2 innings allowing two runs on five hits and striking out seven. Austin Weaver led the offense going 2-3 with a double, RBI, and two runs scored. Cameron Herr, Austin Taylor, and Devon Eaker each drove in a run in the win. Pete Metzinger was 2-3 with a double, RBI, and a run in the loss.

No. 9 Lapel 14 Guerin Catholic 4 – Jaxon Shirley led the offense going 2-3 with a double, five RBI, and three runs scored. Dane Mason was 2-3 with two RBI and a run scored and Brady Cherry was 2-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Cole O’Connor was 2-2 with a triple and three runs scored.

More Highlights

Bloomington South 4 Edgewood 2 – Gage Rogers picked up the win throwing three shutout innings allowing three hits and striking out two. Joe Crider and Isaac Barrow each went 1-3 with two RBI and a run scored, Barrow hit a two run homerun. 

Bremen 15 Central Noble 5 – Tyler Coggel led the offense going 3-3 with five RBI and three runs scored. Ryan Zellmer tripled and drove in two runs, Pedro Lopez was 2-4 with a double, RBI and a run scored, and Justin Baker was 2-3 with a RBI and two runs scored. 

Castle 4 Southridge 3 – Matt Bertram led the offense going 2-3 with a double and three runs scored. Dylan Meeks closed out the game in his first varsity appearance to get the win. Ryan Parker drove in the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh. 

Crown Point 9 Warsaw 8 – Andrew Atchison led the offense going 3-3 with a double, homerun, three RBI, and two runs scored. Mitchell Kooi also homered finishing the game 2-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Austin Thomas was 3-4 with three doubles and two RBI. 

Fairfield 21 Goshen 6 – Forrest Glogouski led the offense going 3-4 with a triple, four RBI, and five runs scored. Four players drove in three runs in the win: Kyle Mart was 3-5 with a double, homerun, and two runs scored, Tony Zook doubled and scored once, Lucas Miller was 2-4 with a double and a run scored, and Brock MGeoglein was 3-6 with a run scored. 

FW Northrop 9 New Haven 5 – Joey Filosa got the win on the mound in the opener throwing five innings allowing three runs and striking out five. Mike Snyder led the offense going 3-3 with a double and five RBI. Colin Brockhouse hit a two run homerun and Nick Snow was 2-3 with two doubles. 

LaPorte 4 New Prairie 0 – Evan Miller picked up the win throwing a one hit shutout to start the season for LaPorte. Matt Pritz led the offense going 2-3 driving in two of LaPorte’s runs. 

Lebanon 10 Pike 0 – Jackson Bennett threw a complete game shutout allowing just three hits and striking out 14, at the plate he was 2-3 with a double and a RBI. Caleb Myers was 3-3 with two doubles, three RBI, and two runs scored to pace the offense. Brantley Fortner was 3-3 with a double, RBI, and four runs scored from the leadoff spot. Coty Edwards drove in two runs and Nathan Kincaid scored twice. 

Madison 5 North Harrison 2 – Story later today. 

Mishawaka Marian 3 NorthWood 1 – Jim Catanzarite led the offense going 2-4 with two RBI. Marian scored in three straight innings to take the lead. Nate Thomas picked up the win throwing the final three innings allowing no runs. 

North Montgomery 14 Sheridan 4 – Jalen West was 2-4 with a double, four RBI, and two runs to pace the offense. He also picked up the win on the mound throwing four innings. Maverick Bacon was 2-3 with three RBI and two runs scored. Baylee Adams drove in two, Mitche Rice scored three times, and Vince Gwynn scored twice. 11 players had a hit in the game for North Montgomery. 

Providence 11 Oldham County 1 – Cameron Harvey got the win throwing all five innings allowing one run on three hits. 

Southport 7 Chatard 2 – Wyatt Cullom got the win throwing six innings allowing no earned runs, six hits, and striking out six, at the plate he was 2-4 with a RBI. Antonio Cortez led the offense going 2-3 with three RBI. Luke Johnston and Mike Jones each went 2-3 with a RBI and Jalen Williams was 3-4 with a run scored.

Southwood 15 Northwestern 6 – Brennan Kelly threw three innings allowing just two hits and striking out two to get the win. Clay Hinrichsen threw two innings allowing just one hit and striking out three. The offense for Southwood racked up 10 hits, 11 walks and two HBP in the win. 

Tell City 10 Princeton 0 –Rhett Baumeister got the win striking out six and Gant Miller led the offense with two hits and four RBI. 

Tipton 1 Tri Central 0 F/8 – Tipton got the win in walkoff fashion in the bottom of the 8th inning. 

Western 6 No. 2 Lafayette Central Catholic 3 – Evan Warden picked up the win throwing 3.2 innings allowing two runs on five hits and striking out seven. Austin Weaver led the offense going 2-3 with a double, RBI, and two runs scored. Cameron Herr, Austin Taylor, and Devon Eaker each drove in a run in the win. Pete Metzinger was 2-3 with a double, RBI, and a run in the loss.

West Washington 8 Loogootee 7 – West Washington came back from a 4-0 deficit to win. Miller was 2-3 with a solo homerun and two runs scored. Strother was 2-3 with two RBI and a run scored, Holliday double, drove in a run, and scored once, and Bolton drove in a run and scored once.
