Daily Roundup: April 17 Games



No. 1 Westminster 8   John Burroughs 3
Bryce Bell continues to be hot at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Westminster offense. Shane Benes, Collin Einerston, and Andrew Colgrove each drove in a run for Westminster. Ben Lovell picked up another win, his fourth of the season, going five innings and striking out nine while allowing three earned runs. 

No. 3 Francis Howell 8   Timberland 1
In the first game of a double header, Calvin Munson shut down the Timberland bats allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out four in five and a third innings pitched. Zac Perkins had a perfect 4-for-4 game with four singles and three runs scored. 

No. 3 Francis Howell 5   Timberland 2
In the back end of the double header, Calvin Munson and Elijah Dilday powered the Howell offense, each collecting two hits. Munson had a two run homerun and Dilday drove in two with a double and sacrifice fly to back Austin Southmayd, who threw a complete game scattering seven hits while allowing two earned runs. 

No. 6 Jefferson City 10   Rolla 0
The bat of Corey Beard was the story of the game against Rolla. Beard had an RBI double in the first inning and a three run homerun in the third to lead Jefferson City to another win. Beard also had two stolen bases, including a steal of home. 

No. 7 CBC 10   Granite City (IL) 0
Seven CBC pitchers combined to throw a one hitter with seven strikeouts to lead CBC over Granite City. Matt Vierling collected two hits and drove in two while Justin Paulsen had one hit and also drove in two runs. 

No. 8 Ladue 4   Clayton 0
For the second consecutive game, Turner Miller blasted a homerun to lead the Ladue offense. Miller ended the game going 2-for-3 with the home run and a double driving in two runs.  Rob Ewald threw another good game, allowing only two hits while striking out 10 batters. 

No. 12 SLUH 5    Belleville West (IL) 4
Matt Clohisy, Luke Robinson, Charlie Nester, and Truman Stephens each drove in a run and Andrew Quinn scattered five hits and allowed one earned run on the mound for SLUH. 

No. 15 Poplar Bluff 1   Jackson 4 (14 innings)
Cody Harris’ two RBI double in the top of the 14th broke a 1-1 tie in a three run inning, allowing Jackson to knock off Poplar Bluff. Steven Eddy tied the game a 1-1 with a run scoring single in the fourth, and also started the game, throwing 10 innings. Collin Herzog picked up the win in relief with four scoreless innings. 

No. 19 Malden 2   Campbell 0 

No. 21 DeSmet 0   Marquette 1
In a game where hits and runs were at a premium, Marquette ended the game with their second consecutive walk off victory on a RBI single in the bottom of the seventh by Austin Powers. Matt Hink earned a hard fought win, allowing two hits and striking out three. 

No. 22 Pacific 5   St. James 5
St. James upset Pacific behind Troy Parker’s three RBI day and a homerun by Jake Ford. Nathan Strait chipped in going 2-for-3 with two RBIs 

Seckman 8   Windsor 3
Danny Hughey threw two innings in relief, allowing one hit to pick up the win for Seckman. Starter Cameron Holloway surrendered three runs and six hits in five innings. The offense was led by Thomas Estopare, who went 2-for-4 with two runs driven in and Colin Edwards, who also drove in two. 

Clever 10   Central 0
Collin Gilmore threw a no-hitter to lead Clever to a 10-0 win over Central. Chance Wolfe provided the offense with a 3-for-4 afternoon, including two triples and three runs driven in. 

Chaffee 14   Charleston 2
Cody Payne and Cole Hanna each went 3-for-4, with Payne driving in two and scoring twice and Hannah crossing the plate three times to lead Chaffee to victory. 

Valle Catholic 11   Bismarck 1
Valle Catholic won their ninth consecutive game and 63rd consecutive conference game, making easy work of Bismarck. Tyler Litterest struck out 11 batters in five innings pitched while Andy Greishaber, who went 2-for-2 with three runs driven in, led the offense. Daniel Bergthold had two hits and scored four times and Evan Lauer crossed the plate three times. 

Southern Boone 10   Eugene 0
Brice Mueller threw a no-hitter and Gus Goodnight had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in three runs. 

Hillsboro 15   Perryville 7
Hillsboro scored seven in the first and five in the second to build an early lead and hold on for the win. 

Washington 10   Ft. Zumwalt North 9
Seven Ft. Zumwalt North errors led to six unearned runs for Washington. 

Kingston 4   Crystal City 2
Josh Camillo allowed three hits and struck out five to earn the win for Kingston. 

Kickapoo 11   Lebanon 2
Landon O’Dell earned the win throwing an effective five innings. 

Cooter 4   Holcomb 0
Brandon Bridges struck out 15 batters to shut down the Holcomb offense.
