Daily Roundup: April 30 Games

Though there were still many fields to wet for games last evening, there was considerably more action than earlier in the week.  Here is a look at scores and highlights from around the state last evening.

#2 St. Xavier 9, #23 Central Hardin 6
Avery Lane went 2-for-4 with 4 RBI, Brandon Blaser collected 3 hits, Hayden Ford went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI, and Tristan Purcell added 2 hits in the Tigers win. 

#3 Eastern 4, #10 Ballard 2
Eastern improved to 22-4 on the season.

LCA 7, #7 Lexington Catholic 1
Robbie Stephens went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI, Drew Schacht added 2 hits, and Andrew Barker doubled home 2 runs in the LCA win.  Schacht scattered 7 hits, allowed 1 earned run, and struck out 5 in the complete game effort.

#8 PRP 10, Holy Cross 0

#16 Bullitt East 3, #22 DeSales 2
Chase Patton went 2-for-2 with a RBI, Zac Ching doubled and drove in a run, and Zach Masden tripled for Bullitt East.  Alex Ralph picked up the win, allowing 3 hits and no earned runs in 5.1 innings.  Hayden Davenport worked the final 1.2 scoreless innings for the save.

Apollo 3, Breckinridge County 1
Cole Lyons and Nate Hopewell each collected 2 hits, and Zach Hopewell doubled and drove in 3 runs in the Apollo win.  Winning pitcher Jacob Sumner allowed 1 earned run in 5 innings of work.

Daviess County 8, Owensboro Catholic 2
Jack Schneider went 2-for-3 with a double, triple, and RBI, Jed Arend went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI, and Noah Pike doubled and drove in 3 runs for Daviess County.  Stewart Currie allowed 4 hits, no earned runs, and struck out 7 in 6 innings of work for the win.

Jeffersontown 12, Southern 3
Cody Sumrall went 3-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBI, and Edward Alexander went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI in the J-Town victory.  Dallas Kuebler allowed 3 hits and 3 earned runs in 6 innings for the win.

Jeffersontown 11, Atherton 2
Brent Whaley, Alec Stout, and Brandon Gibson each collected 2 hits, and Chad Hagan fired a complete game with 15 strikeouts in the win.

Calloway County 4, Murray 3
Caleb Brannon went 2-for-3 with a double, Lofton Pigg collected 2 hits and drove in a run, and Wade Carter added 2 RBI as Calloway County scored 3 times in the 7th inning to claim the victory.  Bryce Orr allowed 2 earned runs and struck out 5 in going the distance for the win.

Boone County 6, Conner 5 (9 Innings)
Trey Ganns went 4-for-5 with 3 doubles and an RBI to lead Boone County to the extra-inning win.

Greenwood 3, Christian County 2 (8 Innings)
Matt Ross went 2-for-3 with 2 doubles, and Michael Justice and Sam Dralle combined to allow just 1 hit and 1 unearned run over 6.1 innings.

Nelson County 13, Bardstown 1
Zech Maulden went 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI, Alex Briney added 2 hits and 2 RBI, and Jared Proctor went 2-for-3 with a RBI.  Parker Taylor worked all 5 innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 earned run, and striking out 7 in the win.

Simon Kenton 4, Grant County 3
Michael Mundy and Travis Bryson each collected 2 hits, and Tyler Smith doubled and drove in 2 runs in the one-run victory.  Robert Smith allowed 1 earned run and struck out 8 in 6 innings.

South Warren 6, Bowling Green 3
Wes King went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI, Kieffer Baxter added 2 hits and drove in a run, and Jacob Smiley added an RBI double.  Cameron Shryock allowed 3 earned runs and struck out 3 in going the distance for the win.

Taylor County 1, Adair County 0
Hunter MacQueary drove in the game’s only run, and Tyler Frogge fired a complete game, 3-hit shutout.

North Bullitt 3, Fern Creek 1
In his first varsity start, 8th grader Alec Lush fired a complete game 4-hitter with 5 strikeouts to pick up the win.

Ryle 8, Bishop Brossart 3
Mason Forbes went 3-for-4 with a HR and 2 RBI, Colt Cordrey went 3-for-3 with a RBI, Jeremy Downs added 2 hits and drove in 2 runs, and Brady Ast went 2-for-3 with a triple in the Ryle win.  Winning pitcher Jake Ziegelmeyer allowed 3 hits and 1 earned run in 6 innings of work.
