No. 3 Normal West 11, Rock Island 1
Normal West (26-3) won for the 21st consecutive time and in only 75 minutes, dismantling the Rocks in 4 ½ innings on Monday. University of Illinois-bound Matthew James singled, doubled and plated a pair of Wildcat runs while WIU-bound C Adam McGinnis hit a two-run bomb his third of the season in the first inning for the ‘Cats.
Super-soph Reid Birlingmair singled home two runs and red-hot junior Ryan Frye plated a pair for West. Missouri State-bound LHP Alex Jefferson fired a four-hitter at the Rocks to even his record at 3-3.

No. 4 Mount Carmel 2, Illiana Christian 1
Mount Carmel (25-6) outdueled a feisty Illiana Christian squad in eight exciting inning at Haggerty Field on Monday. Caravan sophomore Malik Carpenter singled home fellow-soph Josh Stowers with the game-winner in the bottom of the eighth. LHP Dave Dobrinich fired four scoreless innings allowing two hits at the Vikings to improve to 4-0 on the season with the win.

No. 10 Lockport 5, Aurora Central Catholic 0
Lockport (22-7) blanked Aurora Central Catholic (25-7) behind a combined one-hit shutout from RHP Lorenzo Blazekovich and RHP Russ Hoh. Blazekovich (1-0) allowed one hit in his five shutout innings fanning six Charger hitters, Hoh finished up the white-wash with two hitless innings in relief with three strikeouts. Jake Stanton led the Porter attack with his first round-tripper of 2013 and two RBI. Senior 3B Doug Matthews, Jeff Dushenne, and Jeff Pattison all plated Porter runs.

Providence 8, Joliet West 4
Providence (13-16) defeated Joliet West (18-9) as juniors Phil Kunsa and Cam Galgano both hit baseballs that left the premises at Tom Dedin Field in New Lenox on Monday. Kunsa was 2-for-2 with three RBI while Galgano also was 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI. Charlie Gross added a 3-for-3 day at the plate with two RBI and Celtic leadoffman Nick Sanders chipped in with another 3-for-3 day for PC. RHP Yianni Pavlopoulos (1-4) fired a four-hitter at the Tigers allowing two earned runs.

Brother Rice 4, Montini 0
Brother Rice (18-12) starting and winning pitcher Mike Enriquez (3-1) fired a three-hit masterpiece at Montini (18-6) in Lombard on Monday. Enriquez punched-out nine Bronco hitters. Junior Brian Musielak led the Crusader attack with three hits and an RBI while fellow classmate Kevin Biondic added a three-hit day at the plate for Rice.

Belleville West 1, Mount Vernon 0
The Southwestern Conference co-leaders from Belleville West (17-9) blanked Mount Vernon (24-7) behind RHP Jake Wilson. Wilson allowed two hits in his 5 1/3 stellar innings on the mound for the Maroons. Maroon closer Aaron Meyers nailed down the save in the seventh for Wilson.

No. 20 Sandburg 4, Rich Central 2
Sandburg (20-7) defeated a solid Rich Central (23-4) club on Monday in Orland Park. Eagle RHP Alec Martinez fired a four-hitter at the Olympians allowing only one earned run. Dave Cronin led the Eagle attack with two singles and two RBI. Pete Paxinos chipped in with two hits and an RBI.

 Alton 4 Troy-Triad 0
Alton (20-9) blanked Troy Triad (21-10) as Brad Henry, Bryan Hudson and Charlie Howard combined for a four-hit shutout of the Knights. Henry (5-1) allowed three hits in his four scoreless innings while Hudson had 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief and Howard picked up the last two outs of the game in the seventh. Ron Wisnasky led the Redbird attack with a single double and an RBI.

No. 5 St. Rita 10, De La Salle 3
St. Rita (26-6) smashed CCL-White co-champion De La Salle (16-12) on Monday behind junior C Nate Soria. Soria hammered a three-run bomb and doubled for the Mustangs while St. Joseph’s College-bound 1B Marty Napleton continued his hot-hitting with three hits and four RBI. Senior Pete Cozzi chipped in with three hits and a RBI.

St. Joseph 10, Wheaton Academy 5
St. Joseph (15-10) rolled past the Warriors behind Tyler Blue and Pat Brown. Both Blue and Brown were 3-for-3 with an RBI. Blue had two doubles and scored three runs while Brown tripled among his three hits and scored a run. Trayvon Johnson chipped in with a triple and an RBI. The Daily Roundup wants to extend a belated congratulations to the Chargers on winning a share of the CCL-White with De La Salle. The conference championship was the first for the Westchester school in baseball in 46 years.

Herscher 10, Crete-Monee 2
Herscher (26-3-2) smashed Southland Conference power Crete-Monee (19-5) behind Braden Muhlstadt and Dean Johnson. Muhlstadt doubled tripled and plated two for the Tigers while Johnson had a pair of singles and had two RBI for the Interstate 8 South champions. Logan Orr chipped in with a double and two RBI. On the mound Tiger RHP Jeff Klaman scattered eight hits and allowed two runs as he went the distance against the Warriors.

Mississippi Valley

Highland 7, Jerseyville 0
Highland (23-8; 8-2) blanked Jerseyville to grab a share of the Mississippi Valley Conference championship along with Troy-Triad (21-10; 8-2). Jake Harberer and Zach Stieb combined for a six-hit shutout. Harberer allowed four hits with six strikeouts in his 5 2/3 scoreless innings to pick up the win. Stieb allowed a pair of hits in his 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. Harberer helped himself at the plate with an RBI double while Joe Duncan and Tyler Zappia each singled and plated a Bulldog run. Harberer is hitting .489 with seven bombs and 40 RBI for the MVC co-champs.     

Central Suburban North

Glenbrook North 6, Deerfield 5
Glenbrook North (20-9; 10-5) slipped past Deerfield (17-9; 9-6) and back into first-place in CSL-North with a thrilling victory in Northbrook on Monday. Senior Grant Rushing led the Spartan attack with two hits and three RBI. The aptly-named Rushing rushed for over 1600 yards for the Spartan football team this fall.

Central Suburban South

No. 7 Glenbrook South 9, Evanston 2
Glenbrook South (21-4; 13-2) routed Evanston (19-11; 8-7) to wrap up the 2013 CSL-South championship on Monday. Max Cohen led the Titan assault on the Wildkits with three hits and three RBI.

Maine South 3, Niles West 1
Maine South (17-9; 9-6) slipped past Niles West (15-7-1; 10-5) behind Eastern Illinois University-bound Frank Perrone, who launched a two-run walk-off bomb to stun the Wolves. Perrone drove home all three Maine South runs making a winner of Brian Jones (4-2).

New Trier 4, Waukegan 0
New Trier (16-11-1, 9-6) continued to roll behind Trevian starting and winning pitcher the red-hot Kevin Douaire. Douaire fried a four-hitter at the Bulldogs and Logan Wible provided Douaire with all the runs he would need when he launched a two-run bomb for NT.

DuPage Valley

No. 16 Naperville Central 3, West Chicago 2
Naperville Central (20-7; 15-4) ran into a fired-up West Chicago squad in West Chicago on Monday.  The Redhawks slipped past the Wildcats to clinch a tie for the DVC crown. Butler University-bound Jeff Schank singled home the eventual game-winner run the top of the seventh. Schank also hammered a solo-shot in the first inning. Senior Jimmy Nashert fired a three-hitter at the Wildcats allowing only one earned run.

Wheaton North 9, Wheaton Warrenville South 4
Wheaton North (21-7; 13-6) hit its cross-town rivals from South, with a seven-run bottom of the sixth to finish off the Tigers on the North Side of Wheaton on Monday. Jacob Taschetta singled and drove home a pair of Falcon runs while Jeff Harper and River Williams each had two singles and an RBI for North.  

Glenbard North 13, Naperville North 3
Glenbard North (16-10; 13-6) crushed the Huskies in six-innings in Naperville on Monday. Nolan Jasinski, Jeff LaPage, Adam Villanueva and Matt Stencil all had two hits and two RBI for the Panthers.

East Suburban Catholic

No. 25 Benet Academy 3, Marian Catholic 1
Benet Academy (19-7 11-4) slipped past Marian Catholic (20-10; 10-5) behind an outstanding effort on the mound from RHP Tony Predey. Predey allowed two hits and an unearned run in his six strong innings to pick up the win. Redwing closer RHP Robert Haemmerle walked one Spartan hitter in the seventh but struck out the other three to nail down the save for Predey. Joe Boyle singled, doubled and drove home a Redwing run while red-hot C Kevin Jendra chipped in with a single and an RBI. With the win the Redwings stay atop the ESCC standings. On Wednesday the Redwings will travel to
Chicago Heights to play the Spartans at 4:30.  

Carmel 9, St. Patrick 0
Carmel’s (21-6, 11-4) University of Illinois-recruit Quentin Sefcik (6-1) fired a two-hit shutout at the Shamrocks and Tyler Murphy went deep twice and drove home four Corsair runs on Monday. With the win the Corsairs stay atop the ESCC with Benet Academy with one game remaining in ESCC action. The Corsairs will travel to St. Patrick’s on Wednesday at 4:30 to conclude their ESCC season.

Fox Valley Crossover

No. 23 Crystal Lake South 4, Grayslake Central 3
Crystal Lake South (16-5; 13-5 Valley) hung on to Grayslake Central (18-11; 10-9) behind a one-hitter from Gator ace RHP Tyler Hall (8-1). Hall struck out nine and walked two and all three Ram runs were unearned. Gator leadoffman Troy Bittenbender was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI to lead the Gator attack. Ryan Wilkening chipped in with a single and an RBI.

Fox Valley Fox

Grayslake North 11, Woodstock North 2
Grayslake North (16-7; 12-7) all-out assault on WN included bombs from Nick Carmody, Carl Russell and Matt Eney. Russell also doubled and drove home two runs while Andy Mikusa singled doubled and plated three runs for the FVC-Fox leaders.

Fox Valley Valley

McHenry 7, No. 8 Huntley 0
McHenry (19-13; 11-7), stunned Huntley (23-4; 14-4) behind a six-hit shutout from Warrior RHP Andrew Reisinger (3-3). The Warriors hit the FVC-Valley leaders from Huntley with a run in the first inning and then put a five-spot on the board in the second to put this one away early. Cody Freund doubled, tripled and plated a pair of Warrior runs while Adam Mattson was on base all four times with two hits two and two bases on balls. Mattson scored two for the Warriors. Jordan Witbeck chipped in with a single and two RBI.
 
Prairie Ridge 3, Cary-Grove 1
Prairie Ridge (20-9; 11-6) defeated Cary-Grove (18-9; 12-6) behind a three-hitter from LHP Mike Reitcheck. Reitcheck (7-1) fanned eighth Trojan hitters and walked one. University of Missouri-bound Jordan Getzelman singled, tripled and drove home a Wolves run while Austin Covers singled and had an RBI.

Mid-State 6

No. 24 Peoria Notre Dame 7, Peoria Richwoods 5
Peoria Notre Dame (21-5; 9-0) completed its unbeaten run through the M-S 6 with a thrilling victory over archrival Richwoods on Monday. Fighting Irish SS Jarrod Watkins had two doubles and two RBI to lead the ND attack. Nick Bell singled, doubled and plated a run while sophomore Andy Shadid hammered a solo-shot for the Mid-State 6 champions.

Mid-Suburban Crossovers

Barrington 10, Buffalo Grove 0
Barrington (20-10; 12-3 West) crushed B-G in five innings on Monday behind a one-hit shutout from senior RHP Scott Nelson. As usual, the hard-hitting Nelson helped himself at the plate with a pair of singles and drove home three Bronco runs to lead the Barrington attack. Dylan Balogh chipped in with a single, double and two RBI for the MSL-West champions.

Rolling Meadows 5, Palatine 4
Rolling Meadows (16-8-1; 14-1 East) slipped past Palatine (17-12-1; 9-6) in Rolling Meadows on Monday. Red-hot Mustang Mickey Wazorick hammered a two –run bomb for Meadows while Mustang leadoffman Alex Niecikowski was 3-for-3 with a homer double and RBI to lead the Meadows attack. Meadows C Mike Dolan chipped in with a triple and two RBI. Mustang ace RHP Matt Dennis improved to 8-0 on the mound with relief help from closer Alex Reed who nailed down the save for Dennis.

Elk Grove 2, Conant 0
Elk Grove (21-8; 11-4 East) blanked Conant behind Grenadier ace RHP David Camacho. Camacho (7-1) fired a four-hit shutout at the Cougars with eight strikeouts. Luc DiMaso gave Camacho all the run support he would need when DiMaso smashed a solo-shot to left in the fifth inning.  

Fremd 6, Hersey 0
Fremd (17-9; 9-6 West) cruised past Hersey behind a combined seven-hit shutout from Viking RHP’s Jon Escobar and Randy Wilt. Escobar fired six shutout innings allowing five hits with seven strikeouts while Wilt gave up a pair of hits in the seventh before finishing off the Huskies for the combined shutout. Sam Beutler went deep and drove home two for the Vikings while leadoffman Matt Isola had two hits and an RBI.  

North Suburban Lake

No. 13 Mundelein 3, Stevenson 0
Mundelein (24-3; 10-1) blanked Stevenson (16-10; 7-4) behind UIC-bound RHP Mitch Schuluwitz (7-1), who fired a two-hit shutout at the Patriots. Ryan Dolan went deep for the NSC-Lake champion Mustangs.

Libertyville 6, Warren 5
Libertyville (19-9-1; 8-3) scored four runs in the sixth and then had to hold off a Warren uprising in the seventh to defeat the Blue Devils in Libertyville on Monday. Junior C Erik Skoug hit a bomb and plated a pair for the Wildcats. Matt Vogt and Nate Cote each added two RBI for Libertyville.

North Suburban Prairie

Wauconda 5, Antioch 2
Wauconda (16-5; 10-0) rolled past Antioch to wrap-up the North Suburban Prairie Championship on Monday. Bulldog leadoffman Jeff Lindberg led the Wauconda attack with three singles a double and had two RBI. Kyle Bock chipped in with two singles and an RBI.

Public League Playoffs

Lane Tech 10, Wells 0
Lane Tech (21-8)

Morgan Park 10, Lindblom 0
The Jackie Robinson South champions from Morgan Park (21-5) rolled past Lindblom in the Mustangs first-step toward the CPL championship. James Davison and Jamiel Brown each plated a pair of runs for the Mustangs. Charkeal Eggleston fired a two-hitter at the Eagles.  

Simeon 10; Little Village 4
Simeon (16-7) was led by Vanderbilt-bound Ronell Coleman, University of Louisville-bound Corey Ray and EIU-bound Marshawn Taylor, who all plated a pair for the defending CPL champs from Simeon.  

South Suburban Blue

West Suburban Gold

Hinsdale South 10, Proviso East 0
Hinsdale South (20-10; 16-2) repeated as West Suburban Conference Gold Division champs crushing the Pirates in Darien on Monday

West Suburban Silver

No. 22 Oak Park 14, Proviso West 0
The 2013 Oak Park (22-8; 14-4) Huskies did something that the 2012 Class 4A State Champion Oak Park Huskies couldn’t do; that is win the West Suburban Conference Silver Division championship. The Huskies won in five-innings before Huskie Nation in Oak Park.   

Hinsdale Central 3, Downers Grove North 2
Hinsdale Central (15-11; 9-9) Downers Grove North (18-10; 11-7)

Lyons Township 2, York 0
Lyons Township (20-9; 12-6) won the rubber-match with the Dukes behind a three-hit shutout from RHP Zach Carlson. Carlson fanned seven. Junior C Sam Heilenbach drove home both LT runs.
