2^nd Annual Steven M. Bajenski Memorial Tournament Roundup

5^th Place Semifinals

New Trier 7, Providence 6
New Trier (18-12-1) hung on to defeat Providence (15-17) to advance to the fifth-place game on Saturday at Standard Bank Stadium in Crestwood at 1. Trevian C Logan Wible hammered a three-run bomb in the Trevians’ five-run third. Jack Cloud Chipped in with a 2-for-2 game with an RBI.

Brother Rice 12, No. 23 Peoria Notre Dame 1
Brother Rice (20-14) romped past the 23^rd ranked Fighting Irish in five innings, to advance to Saturday’s fifth-place game with New Trier at Standard Bank Stadium at 1. The Crusaders exploded for seven runs in the fourth inning to put this one away. Junior Kevin Biondic and Redick Richardson were both 2-for-2, with three RBI to lead the Rice attack. LF Andrew Dyke added two singles and two RBI while Wendall Ferguson chipped in with a single and two ribbies. Junior Brian Musielak (7-2) fired a two-hitter.

9^th Place Semifinal

No. 1 Lincoln-Way North 1, Marian Catholic 0
Lincoln-Way North (30-2-1) rode the arm of sophomore LHP Kyle Ostrowski (7-1) to advance to tomorrow’s ninth-place game at 1 at Wheaton College. Ostrowski fired a five-hitter at the Marian Catholic (19-15). Oakton Community College-bound CF Corey Krupske had a single and drove home the only run of the game in the third inning for the Phoenix.

No. 20 Lemont 6, No. 21 Oak Park 5
After No. 21-ranked Huskies of Oak Park scored five times in the top of the seventh to erase a 2-0 Indian lead, Lemont (23-6) rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh to stun the Huskies.

Billy Hayes scored the fourth and final run of the seventh, dancing home with the game-winner on a Huskie miscue. Mike Wisz led the Indian attack with a single double homer and drove home a run. Mike Kaminski singled and added two RBI for Lemont.
