Here is a look at some of the scores and highlights from the action around the state yesterday.


Brentwood Academy 2, Briarcrest Christian 0 (Game 1)
Warren Preston and Garrett Smith each had a hit and a run, while Conner Woodlee and Kelton Reynolds added a hit and an RBI apiece.  Jack Victory recorded the win for the Eagles, tossing 6 scoreless innings and Thomas Swafford picked up the save by dealing a perfect 7th.  Hugh Fisher certainly kept Briarcrest in the game by throwing 6 innings and striking out twelve, allowing only 1 earned run.

Brentwood Academy 5, Briarcrest Christian 2 (Game 2)
James Rosen led the Eagles’ offense, going 3-3 with 2 RBI in the nightcap.  Easton Cline went 2-3 with a run, while Warren Preston and Garrett Smith both recorded an RBI single in the game.  Ryan Franklin stifled the Saints hitters, throwing a complete-game 4-hitter and striking out 14.  Franklin didn’t allow an earned run in the contest.  Conner Shamblin went 2-3, producing half of Briarcrest’s hits in the game. 

Evangelical Christian 5, DCA 2 (Game 1)
Nathan McMeans led the Eagles’ attack by going 2-4 with a triple and 2 runs scored.  Hunter Childress also offered a triple, an RBI, a run, and a walk, while Riley Watkins and Houston Harding picked up the win and the save, respectively. 

Evangelical Christian 2, DCA 0 (Game 2)
Benton Garrison went 2-2 for Evangelical Christian, while Josh Rooker doubled in a run in the 4th and Nathan McMeans produced a sacrifice fly in the 5th for the only two runs of the game.  Keegan Westbrook completed the shutout, only allowing 3 hits in his 7 innings of work, while striking out 4.

McCallie 4, St. Benedict 3 (Game 1)
Corbin Brooksbank sparked the McCallie offense by hitting a home run to lead off the bottom of the 1st inning in Thursday’s opening contest.  Max Reimer scored 2 runs and Alex Tucker drove in 2 and recorded the save for the Blue Tornado.  Carson McKoon got the win.  Will Huber, Chase Phillips, and Drake Conine all had a hit and an RBI for St. Benedict.

McCallie 11, St. Benedict 1 (Game 2)
The Blue Tornado were led in the nightcap by Alex Tucker’s 2-3 performance, as his 5th inning home run helped him produce 2 RBI and 3 runs.  Corbin Brooksbank and Griff Jayne both went 3-4 and John Behrends went 2-4 in the matchup.  Jackson Bell got the win for McCallie, throwing 5 innings and giving up the only run St. Benedict scored.

University School of Jackson 3, Davidson Academy 0 (Game 1)
Ryan Rolison dominated the opening game by dealing an 11 strikeout no-hitter.  After a 1st inning walk to Davidson Academy’s Ethan Tressler, Rolison was perfect.  Offensively, Garrett Guymon produced an RBI double, while Logan Carey had a hit and scored a run.

Davidson Academy 3, University School of Jackson 1 (Game 2)
Davidson Academy used a 2-3 performance from Alec Harris and a hit from each of Hayden Hollingsworth, Ethan Tressler, and Nick Cummings to down USJ in the second game of their double-header.  Brock Myers led the way for the Bears on the mound, as he threw a complete-game 5-hitter, recording 6 strikeouts.

Harding Academy 8, BGA 0 (Game 1)
Jake Sutton went 2-4 with 2 runs scored and Casey Harford went 2-3 with 2 RBI and a double to lead Harding Academy in this win.  Ty Wooten also produced a hit, 2 runs, and 2 RBI for the Lions.  Jake Criswell threw the complete-game shutout, striking out 8 and allowing only 3 hits.  Criswell also went 1-3 with a double in the game.

Harding Academy 4, BGA 1 (Game 2)
The Lions needed 10 innings to get the win in the nightcap, getting great performances on the mound from Nathan Ruble and Casey Harford.  The two combined for 10 IP, 11 strikeouts, and 0 earned runs.  Ty Wooten, Jake Criswell, Chris Swanberg, Noah Sharp, and Seth Cochran all had 2 hits for the Lions, while one of Criswell’s was a home run in the 10th.  Sam Folks got the loss, but threw 9+ innings with 9 strikeouts.
