No.1 Normal West 11, No. 23 Bartonville Limestone 0
Top-ranked Normal West (31-3) easily handled No. 23 Limestone in five innings Monday behind 6-foot-4 junior RHP Reed Rogers (4-0). Rogers was lights-out, firing a one-hit shut-out at the Rockets. He fanned five and walked two.

The offensive heroes were many. Missouri State-bound Alex Jefferson led the ‘Cat attack with a single, triple, three runs scored and an RBI. Sophomore Reid Birlingmair, University of Illinois-bound Mathew James and Josh Appel all hit safely and drove home a pair for West. Western Illinois University-bound C Adam McGinnis had a perfect 2-for-2 day for the Cats.

No 7 Lockport 8, Herscher 3
Lockport (28-7) blasted Herscher (28-5-2) on Monday. Porter senior 3B Doug Matthews and junior Jeff Pattison each plated a pair for the Porters. Mike Formella improved to 5-0 on the mound with the win for the Southwest Suburban Conference two-time Blue Division co-champs.

Crystal Lake South 9, Marian Central Catholic 3
Crystal Lake South (21-6) rolled past the Hurricanes on Monday behind senior 1B Max Meitzler and Tony Morrissey. Both Gators had two hits, including a double with two RBI. Tommy Gaede chipped in with three hits. Ryan Wilkening (2-0) allowed one run and four hits over his five stellar innings of work to pick up the win.

Class 4A Regionals

JACOBS

Barrington 4, Crystal Lake Central 3
Barrington (20-11) junior Joe Sciacotta’s clutch two-out RBI single plated fellow junior Jake Peterson to break up a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the sixth to lead the Broncos past the Tigers. Senior RHP Scott Nelson went the distance Barrington. Crystal Lake Central closes out the season at 18-11.

LAKE ZURICH

Lake Zurich 13, Prospect 0
Lake Zurich (15-16) smashed Prospect in five innings at home in Bear Country. The Bears struck for seven runs in the first inning and never looked back. Senior LHP Austin Foote (4-4) fired four scoreless innings at the Kights allowing two hits with six strikeouts to pick up the win. Tanner Kiser and Anthony Drago led the Bear attack. Kiser doubled, tripled, homered and drove home five Bear runs. Drago had two singles and a taper-shot homer with four RBI. For Drago, his bomb was No. 6 on the season and for Kiser his first.

MCHENRY
McHenry (22-14) made quick work of Round Lake in five-innings, scoring 11 times in the third to put this one away. Cole Hoeppel-Tranter homered, his second on the season, doubled and had 3 RBI for the Warriors. Devon Gehrke doubled, tripled and added three RBI while junior RHP Cody Freund fired three scoreless innings to pick up the win and improved to 6-0 with a 2.33 ERA for the FVC-Valley power.

BOLINGBROOK

Plainfield East 5, Bolingbrook 3
It was freshman Drew Demumbrum Day in Bolingbrook on Monday, as his Plainfield East (14-19) Bengals rolled past the Raiders. Demumbrum fired 6 2/3 solid innings on the mound allowing two runs and six hits with five punch-outs. The talented freshman helped himself out at the plate with two hits and two ribbies for the Bengals. Bengal junior closer Tyler Veart nailed down the save retiring the last Raider hope to end this thriller.

STAGG

Stagg 13, Bloom 3
Stagg (17-19) romped past Bloom behind a 4-for-4 day at the plate from Steve Kubiak. The red-hot Charger had three doubles a single three runs scored and two RBI. Charger ace Jeff Goral (5-4) went the distance allowing one earned run and five hits. Brett Stratinski added three ribbies for Stagg.

OSWEGO EAST

Romeoville 8, Oswego East 5
Romeoville (12-22) outslugged Oswego East on Thursday. Josh Kreuger led the Spartan attack with a 4-fo-r4 day at the plate with two doubles two singles and two RBI. Brandon Lisak had a triple and plated a pair of Spartan runs while Matt Esquivel and Brian Hurley each had two hits and two RBI for Romeoville.  

ELGIN

Hoffman Estates 3, Elgin 1

JACKSONVILLE

Jacksonville 5, Springfield S.E. 0
Central State 8 Conference co-champions Jacksonville (19-9), blanked S.E in their own regional on Monday.
