Daily Roundup: May 3 Games



No. 1 Westminster 4   Rockwood Summit 0
Brennan Hehner threw six and a third innings, allowing one hit to pick up another win for Westminster.  Kyle Kinner, Brett Bond, Travis Ralls,  and Shane Benes each drove in a run to lead the Westminster and avenge their loss earlier this season at the hands of Summit. 

No. 2 Parkway North 0   Webster Groves 3
Jake Perry Perry hit a two run first inning homerun to give starting pitcher Kyle Uhrich all the support he would need. Uhrich scattered four hits and struck out nine batters in the upset over Parkway North. 

No. 3 Francis Howell 6   Ft. Zumwalt North
In what was a bittersweet win for Francis Howell, the Vikings said goodbye to their home field of C&H Park for over 50 years while beating up on Ft. Zumwalt North. Next season Francis Howell will be planning at a new field at the high school. 

Austin Southmayd allowed one hit in four innings and Calvin Munson threw the final two frames, also allowing a single hit in the combined two hit shutout.  Zac Perkins went 2-for-2, scoring three times and Elijah Dilday drove home two run to lead the Howell offense. 

No. 4 Rock Bridge 4   Hickman 2
Rock Bridge got the best of their cross town rivals behind sophomore Chandler Wyatt’s four innings of shutout ball. 

No. 6 Jefferson City 6   Smith-Cotton 7
Smith-Cotton scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on a Chance McMullin RBI single, and bases loaded walk to Dalton Christian, a two RBI single by Spencer Ruckman and another bases loaded walk, this time to Austin Hoffman to take a 7-2 lead.  Jefferson City stormed back to score four in the top of the seventh, but Smith-Cotton pitcher Dalton Christian found a way to hold on to the lead. 

No. 9 Rockhurst 3  Olathe South (KS) 4

No. 10 Vianney 9   Chaminade 2
Kevin Dvorak drove in three runs on one hit and Matt Dreyer drove home two and scored twice to lead the Vianney offense.  Alex Hoffman allowed only two hits in six innings of work, striking out six for the win. 

No. 12 Malden 4   Cooter 2 

No. 13 Notre Dame 0   Festus 3
Stepehn Moss, a light throwing lefty, stifled the Notre Dame offense, allowing two hits and striking out five batters. Tim Gurnow, Mitch Neel, and Michael Smith each had a hit and an RBI to supply the offense in the upset. 

No. 19 Holden 5   Richmond 3 (12 innings)
Holden came away with a 5-3 win in 12 innings to push their record  to 15-3. Matt Borgen threw eight innings, allowing six hit and one walk while striking out six. Dylan Riley picke dup the win throwing the fial four inning and striking out eight. Borgen also had four hits while Riley and Austin Tevis each had 2 for Holden.

No. 20 Jackson 2   Seckman 8 

No. 22 Lee’s Summit West 1   Park Hill South 6 

No. 25 Clever 2   Seneca 7
In a matchup that featured the conference champions of the SWCL and Big 8, Seneca defeated Clever 7-2. Dalan Merriman drove home two runs, and Payton Rawlins, Brayden Larson, Cade Cornett, and Cole Lankford each drove home a run. 

Clayton 9   Whitfield 0
Clayton sophomore John Howard threw a no hitter, striking out 11 to lead Clayton over Whitfield.

Marquette 6   Fox 0
Danny Mannion threw a complete game shutout, scattering six hits and striking out four while not issuing a single walk. Mannion also helped himself at the plate with a solo homerun in the first, to give him a lead that Marquette would not relinquish. Mannion also added a RBI double in the seventh. Matt Hink chipped in with a perfect 4-for-4 game, including a double, homerun, and two runs driven in. 

Sikeston 7   South Pemiscot 0
Doug Still struck out 13 batters in a two hit shutout and Drew Harper drove in two runs on a sacrifice fly and a run scoring ground out to lead the Sikeston offense. 

Liberty 10   Blue Springs 9
Liberty overcame being down 7-1 and 9-5, scoring two runs in the top of the seventh inning to come from behind to defeat Blue Springs 

Staley 5   Ft. Osage 4
Staley scored three runs in the top of the sixth to come back from a three run deficit to defeat Ft. Osage. A two out RBI single from John Oliver proved to be the game winner. 

Ozark 14   Glendale 4
Seth Wheeler, Grant Higgins each drove in three runs while Caleb Essick and Garrett Romines each drove in two for Ozark in a five inning win over Glendale. 

Lafayette 4   Parkway Central 3 (10 innings)
Lafayette walked off with a 4-3 win in extra innings on Monday, with Josh Ripp driving home Jacob Bolstad with scoring the winning run. Cole DuPont went 3-for-4 with an RBI and run scored.
