Deep South Invite:


The forecast for Sunday, October 14 in Auburn, Alabama seems picture perfect with mainly sunny skies and a high of 76 degrees. The action at Samford Stadium-Hitchcock Field at Plainsman Park on the campus of Auburn University is sure to match the weather with some of the top 2020-2023 players from Alabama and Georgia converging to play in the Deep South Invite. Seventy plus players from the two states will go through a morning prostyle workout beginning at 9:50 AM followed by 2 games immediately after the workout (each player will play in one of the 2 games). This is sure to be a heavily scouted event by college coaches as they continue to address their future recruiting classes. There will be a plethora of talent on the field from both states. Just some of the top players from each state that are signed up for the event are:


Georgia:

Ryan Spikes (2B/RHP, Alcovy HS, 2021) an athletic player that excelled this summer with USA Baseball 15U national team. Very versatile that can play a number of positions, impact ability on the mound and at the plate.

Dalton Strickland (OF/RHP, Loganville Christian, 2020) big time skill set that was a standout at this year’s Prep Baseball Report Futures Games in Indianapolis, IN

Preston Joye (SS/2B, Fellowship Christian, 2020) will bring an advanced offensive approach from both sides of the plate with solid actions with the glove in the IF.

Cole McDaniel (LHP/OF, East Paulding HS, 2021) young projectible LHP that can command both sides of the plate and shows true pitchability.

Tanner Folds (LHP/OF, Sonoraville HS, 2021) much like McDaniel, a high ceiling young LHP that has an understanding of how to get it done with “stuff” to match

Geoffrey Watkins (RHP/1B, Lassiter HS, 2020) 6’6 RHP that shows a fastball in the upper 80’s and a breaking ball that with good shape


Alabama:

Trey Burrell (OF, Hewitt Trussville HS, 2021) quick twitch young OF that shows some pop at the plate as well

Andrew Dutton (2B/SS, Westbrook Christian, 2020) rangy MIF that shows an advanced offensive approach from the left side

Mason Maners (OF/2B, Vestavia Hills HS, 2020) big time speed guy that shows gap to gap power as well. Projects more as an OF on defense.

Jackson McKenzie (LHP/1B, Fairhope HS, 2023) young 2 way player with a bright future ahead. Well built LHP that is ultra projecible on the mound.

Jackson Sweatt (C/RHP, Pell City HS, 2021) athletic catcher in the 2021 class with an added plus of being able to swing it. Very nice receiver behind the plate as well.

Austin Embrey (C/3B, Russell County HS, 2020) a true catch and throw guy behind the plate, may show some sub 2.0’s to go along with advanced receiving skills

Jackson Huguley (1B/3B, Russell County HS, 2020) big time power bat that has true juice to all fields

Hunter Donaldson (SS/2B, Smiths Station HS, 2020) throwback type of player with skills to match with the glove and a plus arm across the diamond. Also an offensive threat.

Jay Thomason (3B, Auburn HS, 2020) talented 3B that can defend with with plenty of arm strength and a simple offensive approach and gap to gap power.


There will be other players that stand out and make a name for themselves at the event, follow along for up to date information.

In the days immediately following the event, we will have numerous reports, blogs, rankings, etc from the day.
