Franklin Central, Greenwood Advance

Whiteland 4A Sectional #13

Whiteland 4 Franklin Central 12

Franklin Central hitters opened sectional play with a grand slam from Senior 1B Jake Wickliff and an eight run 6th inning to advance over host Whiteland Wednesday night. Senior Nick Jenkins picked up the win tossing six innings and striking out seven.

After Whiteland evened the game at four in the top half of the sixth, the Flashes brought 13 hitters to the plate on four hits, four walks, and two reaching on errors. The eight late innings runs were too much to overcome for a young Warrior club. Jenkins, Wickliff, Chris Stone, Justin Jones and Jacob Cooper all drove in runs for Franklin Central.  Whiteland's Jared Adkins and Adam Gutermuth drove in a run a piece for the
Warriors.

Franklin Central will play Greenwood in the first game of round 2 on Monday.

At the plate, the Woodmen brought their sticks and chased Trojan ace Zach Anderson in the second. Twelve hitters came to the dish scoring seven runs on seven hits. Junior speedster Alex Krupa donated to the teams cause with three hits and three stolen bases.

Greenwood will face off against Game 1 winner Franklin Central on Monday.
