Throughout Wednesday, July 26-Saturday, July 30, 2023 Prep Baseball Report Future Games were held in Emerson, Georgia at our LakePoint Sports Complex. For this event the various PBR staffs from around the country selected the best uncommitted rising juniors and sophomores to form teams to represent their state or region in the event, bringing well over 450 of the best uncommitted players in the United States and Canada to one four field quad for 4 days.

For this event, players from Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and DC were selected to form Team Mid-Atlantic. Players on Team Mid-Atlantic had a position player showcase workout on Wednesday and then played in three games, one per day, Thursday-Saturday, going 1-1-1 against Team Florida, Team Carolinas, and Team California. Scouts from all 30 MLB teams and well over 350 college coaches were in attendance.

Burton's Analysis

Zachary Zelazny SS / 3B / Patrick Henry (Ashland), VA / 2025

5-foot-11, 175-pound athletic frame with proportional strength. Zelazny is an athletic infielder with some positional versatility. Listed at shortstop and maybe more suited long term for 3B/2B/LF. Slightly above average runner with some pull side juice in the bat. Slightly above average bat speed and rotates well. The swing is short and compact with a barrel that is in and out of the zone quick. Lift and carry to the pull side and that is where he does most of his power damage, but has some power potential in the middle as well. Short quick arm across the infield with above average arm strength and showed some carry on throws. Probably an offense first profile, but more than adequate defender. The bat has some definite power potential and Zelazny does not get cheated at the plate.
