Wednesday, July 26 marks the beginning of the 2023 Prep Baseball Report Future Games, which will again be held in Emerson, Georgia at our LakePoint Sports Complex. For this event the various PBR staffs from around the country select the best uncommitted rising juniors and sophomores to form teams to represent their state or region in the event, bringing well over 450 of the best uncommitted players in the United States and Canada to one four field quad for 4 days.

As usual, we expect scouts from all 30 MLB teams and well over 300 college coaches in attendance, possibly even more with the change to the contact rules and August 1 being just around the corner.

For this event, players from Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and DC are selected to form Team Mid-Atlantic. Players on Team Mid-Atlantic will have a position player showcase workout on Wednesday and then play in three games, one per day, Thursday-Saturday.

Below, PBR Maryland Scouting Director, Jamie Naill dives into the five MD/DE players who will be a part of Team Mid-Atlantic at the Future Games.

*Full Team Mid-Atlantic Roster*

Nate Berzonski 1B / RHP / Stephen Decatur , MD / 2025

The physical and durable 6-foot-2, 195 pound righty features an explosive fastball that works all quadrants of the zone, running it up to 91 this Spring with a keen ability to change eye levels and induce whiffs at the top of the zone. The secondary arsenal is still developing, however the makeup on the curveball/slider combo is certainly something to dream on. The 12/6 curveball has downer shape that induces whiffs at the bottom of the zone, playing well off a tight 10/4 slider that works in the mid 70's at ~2500 rpm. The body makeup and strike percentage should open a ton of eyes immediately, as we look for Berzonski to certainly up his stock this week at the Future Games.

Casey Carpenter 3B / 1B / John Carroll , MD / 2025

The top uncommitted position player in our 2025 rankings, Carpenter possesses a physical, athletic 6-foot-2, 190 pound frame with proportional strength throughout. The hit tool is the separator, showcasing consistent power to the pull side with the ability to backspin line drives to both gaps. The hands are quick with explosive barrel speed (80.2 Max Bat Speed per Blast Motion), translating to loud line drive tendencies to the alleys. Awareness and feel for the barrel is present, which led to Carpenter being one of the top offensive threats this Spring across Maryland high school baseball. The glove and footwork looks to keep Carpenter at the corners at the next level with arm strength continuing to increase as the body fills out and matures. An average runner, however a 7.09 60-yard at our MD Top Prospect Games earlier this month was a personal best across the nine PBR events Carpenter has attended. It would be an understatement to say the rising Junior is already on a ton of college coaches radars, and a big performance this week will only propel Carpenter to new heights come August 1st.

Joseph Nottingham RHP / 1B / Loyola Blakefield, MD / 2025

There's a ton to dream on with Nottingham; projectability, athleticism, raw strength and polish are just a few things that stand out at first glance. The intrigue and excitement has been present ever since our first look at the 6-foot-5, 190 pound righty at a PBR Scout Day in 2021, and it continues to grow seemingly each time we see him on the bump. Featuring an upper 80's to low 90's fastball, Nottingham attacks the zone early and often with controlled intent, living down in the zone for whiffs to both right-handed and left-handed hitters. The breaking ball is still developing, however does show flashes of sharp downward action and depth that can create swing and miss. The arm is quick, and with a frame that is still maturing and filling out will certainly entice college coaches to lock in on Nottingham during his outing on Thursday.

Jordan Regulski RHP / SS / North Dorchester, MD / 2025

One of, if not the biggest surprise names to hit the circuit this Spring was Regulski and he certainly impressed each time our staff was able to get eyes on him. The long 6-foot-3, 160 pound righty had one of the more dominating fastballs in the state, living in the upper 80's and grabbing a few 90's during the high school season, before touching 91 this summer. The fastball shows ride and late life to the arm side with effortless intent for the zone, showcasing the ability to live at the knees and create weak contact and whiffs on a consistent basis. The curveball has steadily gotten sharper with some bite, living in the low 70's and manipulating shapes from outing to outing, proving to be a developing pitch with the makeup to be plus in the not so distant future. A name that has certainly caught a ton of eyes this Spring and Summer will be on full display come Friday in his outing at the Future Games.

Will Twomey SS / 3B / Georgetown Prep, MD / 2025

It's easy to love the projection out of the 6-foot-4, 195 pound infielder, and the gameplay certainly backs up the frame and makeup. A standout at our Mid-Atlantic Trials in May earlier this year, Twomey showcases easy strength to the pull side with the ability to create consistent lift and carry to the left-center field gap. It's a loose stroke out of a balanced and taller setup, staying synched in the hips and lower half with torque. Defensively, a move to third base primarily is most likely in the future, and the clean footwork and arm strength should fit the mold of a taller makeup at the hot corner. The size and easy pop at the dish should open college coaches eyes during the workout, and look for a few big swings in game to raise Twomey's stock.
