Game of the Day: Bridgeport 4 Lincoln 1

By Greg Williams
WV Director of Scouting

Weather once again affected much of the schedule statewide in sectional play, but for the second straight day baseball was able to be played in the 2A Region II, Section 4 tournament. Lincoln, which scored a 6-4 win over Robert C. Byrd on Monday, was looking to make it two wins in consecutive days on Tuesday.

BoggioRyan Holcomb led off the top of the 2nd inning with a double, advanced to third on a fly out and scored on a Jason Napier groundout with one out to give Lincoln an early 1-0 lead. Bridgeport Senior RHP Josh Boggio took matters into his own hands from there, shutting out Lincoln from the 2nd inning on, yielding just four hits and while striking out eight.

Lincoln starter Hunter Hamrick was nearly as effective limiting Bridgeport to just two hits on the night, but five walks and a Lincoln error allowed the Indians to scratch out four runs for the win.

Holcomb was the only player to record more than one hit on the evening, finishing the game 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
