Aurora - This is the second time in a week the Grandview Wolves and Cherry Creek Bruins squared off against each other, and the Wolves got the better of the Bruins on both occasions.  In two games the Wolves put up an assault of 17 hits and a staggering 18 runs against the Bruins pitching.

Senior starting pitcher for Grandview, Cade Crader (Metro State commit) threw a solid 5.2 innings striking out 6 Bruin batters and allowing the only 3 runs Creek would put up on the day.  Crader was in command early, throwing his slider early and often, keeping the Bruin batters at bay.  Creek would strike first in the top of the 3rd off an RBI double by senior Reid Weber and again in the top of the 4th with an RBI triple by junior Jimmy Guckenberger giving the Bruins a 2-0 lead which didn’t hold long.

Entering the bottom of the 4th, after 3 shutout innings striking out 4 Grandview batters, by junior starting pitcher for the Bruins Sam Colehower, the Wolves bats awoke.  Junior catcher, Tyson Hays (1-2 on the day) lead off with a rocket ground rule double to LF. A sac bunt by Travis Parker (Utah Valley commit) would move Hays to 3B, however a throwing error by the third baseman would score Hays.  Senior Dylan Bowers would crush a double off the LF fence putting runners on 2nd and 3rd, with an ensuing wild pitch scoring 1 run. Hunter Mclaran would hit a comebacker to the pitcher, but the ball was bobbled scoring another run making the score 3-2.  Senior Tyler Smith (Ohio commit) hit a 3 run triple off the LF wall followed up by a single to RF by outfielder Andrew Coverly (Lamar CC commit) putting the Wolves on top 7-2, a lead which they would never relinquish.

Cherry Creek would add one more run in the top of the 5th but any comeback bid was shut down as senior relief pitcher Tommy Knowlton (St Cloud State commit) buckled down to close out the game ending the game with a score of 7-3.

The Grandview Wolves will play at Arapahoe this Saturday if weather holds up, and the Cherry Creek Bruins play at Smoky Hill.
