Montini (5-12-1) blanked the Dukes behind a three-hit shutout from Bruno Bodnum. Bodnum pitched to contact as the Bronco hurler did not strike out a Duke batter. Monday’s Bronco hero Sean Frontzak singled, doubled and had two big  Bronco RBI.

Willowbrook 4, Maine East 3

Nazareth 12, St. Ignatius 3
Nazareth (19-11) crushed the Wolves behind Matt Wilson, who doubled and plated three Roadrunner runs. Brandon Bossard chipped in with a pair of singles and two RBI

Oak Park (15-3) slipped past city rival Fenwick on Tuesday.

Prospect (22-5-1) survived and advanced against the Red Raiders. Mike Piotrowski had a two-run bomb and plated three Prospect runs to lead the Knight attack.

Jacobs 3, Elk Grove 2
Jacobs (11-8-1) slipped past the Grenadiers, scoring three times in the top of the fifth to erase a 2-0 Elk Grove lead. Ryan Sargent singled home the first Golden Eagle run in the inning and then Jacobs scored the tying run on a wild pitch and a passed ball.

St. Viator 5, Bartlett 0
St. Viator (12-15-1) blanked the Hawks behind a combined three-hit shutout from Cole Kmet and Connor Phelan. Kmet allowed the three hits in his 4.1 scoreless innings. Phelan finished off Bartlett with 2.2 hitless innings of relief. Dan Sullivan homered and plated three Lion runs while Ben Dickey had a perfect 3-for-3 game with an RBI.

Lake Park 3,South Elgin 1
Lake Park (15-9) calmed the Storm behind Niko Mirandola who allowed an unearned run and scattered seven hits over six innings to pick up the win on the mound. Mirandola fanned six and did not walk a batter. Nick Worcester was 2-for-2 and scored two runs to lead the Lancer attack

Crystal Lake South (16-5-1) defeated the Bengals to advance to the semis.

St. Charles East (21-9-1) crushed rival Geneva behind Reid Olson and Kyle Cook. Olson singled, homered and plated a pair of Fighting Saint runs while Cook allowed two unearned runs and five hits in  his six stellar innings on the mound to pick up the win.

FENWICK
Montini 4, Lyons Township 0
Montini (4-12-1) stunned top-seeded Lyons Township 4-0 behind a four-hit shutout from RHP Sean Frontzak. Frontzak struck out eight in leading the 16th-seeded Broncos to victory. Justin Blake’s one-out RBI single broke up a scoreless tie in the top of the sixth. Adam Kenny followed with a booming RBI double to give the Broncos a 2-0 lead.

York 6, Morton 3
York (12-9-1) scored three times in the top of the seventh to roll past Morton. Ryan Gilmartin went the distance for the Dukes and Nolan Spencer had a pair of doubles and two RBI to lead the Duke attack. Matt Reicker chipped in with a double and two RBI.

Plainfield East (12-7) an IHSBCA/ Lawler Elite 8 team in 2013, won its regional opener in walk-off fashion on Monday in Plainfield. After erasing a 4-0 WW South lead with four runs in the bottom of the sixth, senior Mike McGee doubled to lead off the bottom of the seventh. After one out, Logan Small singled home McGee with the game-winner sending hysteric Bengal fans dancing onto Naperville Road.

Prospect 9, Burlington Central 3
Prospect (21-5-1) scored six times in the bottom of the third to blow past the Rockets. Mike Piotrowski and Trey Compton each plated a pair of Knight runs while Lucas Karz added a solo blast for Prospect.

Bartlett (5-3-1) crushed the Chargers on Monday.

Lake Park 10, Hersey 1
Lake Park (14-9) rolled past the Huskies behind Colin Fowich. Fowich singled, doubled and plated three Lancer runs and picked up the win on the mound allowing an unearned run and three hits in his five stellar innings of work on the mound.

Mundelein 3, Zion Benton 0

McHenry 15, Lake Zurich 5
McHenry (11-5-4) crushed the Bears behind Dylan Weston and Ryan Etzkorn. Weston had four hits including a double and a bomb with four RBI. Etzkorn also had four hits and four RBI with a double.

Grayslake Central (1-0) slipped past the Bulldogs in walk-off fashion on Monday. Sam Nozicka’s sac-fly tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh and then Ethan LaBeck’s single to left plated Jay Hoffman with the Ram game-winner. Hoffman was 3-for-3 at the plate for the Rams.

Stagg (7-6-1) rallied past the Vikings scoring eight times in the fifth to erase a 7-1 HF lead. Mitchell Spencer led the Charger attack with a single,double and four RBI.

Brother Rice 12, Bremen 0
Brother Rice (11-4) crushed Bremen in six innings behind sophomore Ryan Kutt. Kutt fell a triple short of hitting for the cycle and drove home four Crusader runs. The Crusaders scored seven times in the first inning for Crusader junior starting and winning pitcher Joey Preusser, who allowed two hits with six punchouts in his his four shutout innings to pick up the win.

Crystal Lake South 7, West Chicago 1
Crystal Lake South (15-5-3) crushed the Wildcats behind Gator ace Ryan Wilkening (2-0) Wilkening allowed an unearned run and five hits in his outstanding six innings of work on the mound. Wilkening struck out seven and did not walk a batter. Cam Geisser and Derek Bolger each had perfect 2-for-2 days at the plate with a double and an RBI. Collin Chubb chipped in with three hits, including a double.

Oswego East 5, Waubonsie Valley 3

Kaneland 4, Cary-Grove 1

St. Charles East 7, Machesney Park Harlem 1
St. Charles East (20-9-1) crushed the Huskies behind a two-hitter from RHP Mick Vyzral. The lone Harlem run was unearned and Vyzral had five strikeouts. Max Powers had a double and two RBI to lead the Fighting Saints attack.
