LOCKPORT

Lockport 3, Champaign Central 0
Lockport (10-9) blanked their guests from Champaign County, behind a three-hit masterpiece from senior RHP Noah Masa. Masa allowed three harmless singles and struck out seven Maroon hitters.

Senior Jake Stanton and senior SS Lorenzo Blazekovich each had RBI singles to give Masa all the run support he would need. The Porters will face Minooka (10-5-1) in the final regional quarterfinal at Ed Flink Field in Lockport at 7, on Tuesday night.

“It took me a couple of innings to gain command of the strike zone,” said Masa. “My slider was really biting tonight and was my best pitch. This was the best pitching performance of my Lockport career although I was better last week, in throwing a no-hitter for my traveling team.”

Minooka 6, Lincoln-Way East 0
Minooka (10-5-1) blanked the Griffins behind a three-hit shutout from Trevor Maly. Maly (2-0) fanned six and walked none. Neal Tyrell and Christian Sanchez each had three hits, scored a run and drove home a run for Minooka. Tyrell had a pair of doubles. Tyler Desmairais doubled and had two RBI.  

Lemont 11, Joliet Catholic Academy 5
Lemont (1-0) smashed 2012 IHSBCA State-Runner-up JCA on Monday behind the Indians pair of LSU-Bound recruits, LHP Jake Latz (1-0) and C Mike Papierski. Latz allowed one earned run in his five stellar innings of work to pick up the win. Latz fanned seven Hilltopper batters. Papierski hammered a pair of bombs and drove home four runs. Mike Wisz homered, doubled and also plated four runs.

Lemont 9 Plainfield South 3
Lemont (2-0) rolled past Lockport Regional top-seed Plainfield South behind Wisz, Papierski and Jake Terrazas. Wisz had two singles, a double and drove home two runs. Papierski doubled and plated three runs while Terrazas doubled and had 4 RBI to lead the Indian onslaught.

Bradley-Bourbonnais, Plainfield Central 3

Sandburg 9, Romeoville 4
Sandburg (7-2-1) rolled past Romeoville behind Julian Gutierrez who singled homered and drove home three Eagle runs. Matthias Dietz allowed a pair of runs in six innings of work to pick up the win on the mound.

Sandburg 11, Joliet Central 1
Julian Gutierrez hammered a pair of bombs to lead the Eagles past the Steelmen in a play-in game Monday morning.

Providence 6, Chicago Christian 1

Plainfield North 6, Andrew 4

Lincoln-Way West 9, Lincoln-Way North 1
Lincoln-Way West (17-1-1) led 8-0 after two innings and went on to crush rival North in New Lenox on Monday. Warrior Dan Brokop doubled, homered and plated four runs to lead the Warriors past the Phoenix. RHP Andrew Clavenna fired six shutout inings allowing just two hits to pick up the win.

York (15-10-2) rolled past Addison Trail behind a three-hitter from Duke RHP Ryan Gilmartin. Dan Cirone had a double and an RBI while Duke 1B Jake Dvorak had a perfect 2-for-2 day at the plate with a run scored.

Grayslake Central (14-11-6) scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth to rally past the Hurricanes on Monday. Matt Loeffl’s double plated Kyle Clark, who had singled to tie the game at 2-2. Sam Nozicka followed with a single to center to score Loeffl with the eventual game-winning run. Clark had a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate with an RBI.

Fremd 3, Buffalo Grove 2
Fremd (16-3-1) outlasted Buffalo Grove 3-2 in eight exciting innings at Fremd on Monday. Viking Ian Bohn’s walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth plated Cody Patenaude with the winning run. Dylan Fisher had two singles and drove home two Viking runs while Matt Gura chipped in with three hits. RHP Shane Buetler fired 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win.

Crystal Lake South (13-5-1) jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings and rolled past West Aurora on Monday. Ryan Wilkening improved to 2-0 for the summer allowing four runs in his five inings of work to pick up the win on the mound. John Smerecky fired two scoreless inings of relief at the Black Hawks to nail down the save.

Mike Avella and Matt Kinker each had a single double and an RBI to lead the Gator attack.
