Illinois Daily Roundup: March 12

As the swing of the spring season gets underway, the uncooperative midwest wether caused some rainouts and cancellations across the state. However, there was still a handful of games that played and we will continue to publish our Daily Roundup with scores from all over the state. In addition to area high school's beginning their seasons, keep an eye out for box scores coming from the third annual Metro East Kickoff Classic, sponsored by PBR. All games were cancelled today due to field conditions and rain in the forecast. That being said, the KOC starts tomorrow and runs through Saturday.

Here's a look at Tuesday's scores: 

Tuesday, MARCH 12

No. 10 Normal University 8, South Fork (FL) 5
Parker Mathieson keeps rolling as the leadoff man finished 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI and a walk. Jackson Blemler and Nate Hardman tallied two RBIs apiece. Freshman Jake Swartz earned the win out of the pen striking out four in relief of starter Jack Feely. Caleb Gross nailed it down after Swartz striking out three of his own. Feely helped the pitching staffs cause at the plate with a double and two runs scored.

Tuscola 10, Westville 0
Three Tuscola arms combined for a no-hitter as they open the 2019 season. Logan Tabeling got the start fanning six, while Haden Cothran also struck out six of his own out of the pen. Michael Ludwig sat down all three he faced in the final frame. Leadoff man Jalen Quinn collected four hits, two doubles, with three runs scored. Lucas Kresin smacked two doubles with a run scored and three RBI and Will Little touched home plate four times.

St. Patrick 5, Evanston 1
Sam Correa does most of the offensive damage for St. Patrick finishing 1-for-3 with a triple, a run scored and two RBI. Anthony Manaves picks up the win on the mound while Luke Hillmann goes 3 2/3 IP allowing one hit and fanning three.
