NON-CONFERENCE

Bremen 11, St. Francis de Sales 1
Brett Kolacki (1-0) fired a two-hit shutout with 12 punchouts to lead Bremen (2-0) to the nonconference win on Wednesday. Mike Fuentes had a perfect 4-for-4 day for the Braves with two triples and two RBI. Kyle Ramos chipped in with three hits and an RBI for Bremen.

Brother Rice 4, Whitney Young 0

Brother Rice (1-0) blanked the Dolphins at Wheaton College on Wednesday night behind Jack Nelligan and Andy Dyke. Nelligan (1-0) allowed just three hits in his six shutout innings on the mound, to pick up the win. Dyke led the Crusader attack with a single and two RBI. Jake Preusser had a perfect 2-for-2 night with two runs scored and AJ Alarcon wrapped up the Crusader win with a hitless inning in relief.  

Cary-Grove 2, Palatine 1
Cary-Grove (1-0) slipped past the Pirates, led by starting and winning pitcher Larkin Hanselmann (1-0). Hanselmann fanned 10 in his four scoreless innings of work to pick up the win. Matt McCumber allowed one run in his three solid innings of relief, to nail down the save. Tyler Pennington doubled home the first Trojan run in the first. The Trojans picked up and unearned run in the second. Palatine (0-1) junior Charlie Van Dyke singled home the lone Pirate run in the top of the seventh.   

Champaign Central 12, Kankakee 0
Champaign Central (1-0) blasted the Kays behind a combined no-hitter from Phil Swartz (1-0), Zach Dorner and Alex Barger. Jake Snider and Luke Beasley led the Maroon attack with a pair of doubles and three ribbies, each.   

DeKalb 10, Sandwich 0
DeKalb (1-0) smashed the Indians behind a combined two-hit shutout from Zach Moan (1-0) and Max Fleetwood. Moan allowed both hits and struck out five while Fleetwood fired two hitless innings in relief with three strikeouts. Jake Kuykendall led the Barb attack with single double and three RBI. Daniel Garcia and Conor Hoyle both were 2-for-2 with an RBI

Geneseo 7, Rockridge 1

Geneseo (1-0) romped past Rockridge, behind Bo Lindstrom and Jon Dahl. Lindstrom singled, doubled and plated a pair of Maple Leaf runs while Dahl (1-0) allowed one hit in his three scoreless innings to pick up the win on the mound.

Glenbrook North 6, Wheeling 0
Glenbrook North (1-0) blanked the Wildcats behind a combined three-hit shutout from Brice Call and Danny Ahern. Call allowed two hits in his 5.2 innings of work with seven strikeouts. Ahern finished up allowing a hit and striking out three. The Spartan attack was led by Harrison Solano who was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI.  

Grayslake North 4, Deerfield 3
Grayslake North (1-0) won its season-opener in 4.5 innings in a game called because of darkness. Deerfield (0-1) led 3-0 as the game entered the bottom of the third, which was the start of the Alex Carillo and Danny Yates Show. Carillo singled home the first Knight run and Yates, a freshman, tied the game with a clutch two-out-two run single. In the bottom of the fourth Carillo forced in the eventual game-winner with a bases-loaded walk.

Harvard 5, Belvidere 4
It was the Logan Streit Show in Harvard, for the Hornets 2015 season-opener. Streit went the distance on the mound firing a three-hitter with seven strikeouts Three of the four Buc runs were unearned. Belvidere (1-1) tied the game 4-4 with two runs in the top of the sixth. With one out in the bottom of the sixth, Hornet Hunter Freres was plunked. Streit followed with a booming double to right, plating Freres with the eventual game-winner. Streit finished off the Bucs in the top of the seventh and the Hornets had a thrilling Opening Day win.  

Jacksonville 13, Macomb 3
Jacksonville (1-0) coasted in its season-opener, behind Connor Stremlau and CJ Wright. Stremlau and Wright both singled, doubled and drove in three runs to lead the Crimson.  

Manteno 10, Rich Central 9 (six Innings) darkness
The Panthers made it two in a row, this time in walk-off fashion on Wednesday. After Rich Central (0-1) scored three times in the top of the sixth to take a 9-6 lead, Manteno (2-0) rallied for four runs, all after two-out to stun the Olympians. Brock Crews RBI single to right made it 9-7. Wyatt Dwyer singled home his third and fourth RBI of the game to tie the score at 9-9. Connor McCormack followed with the game-winning single, scoring Dwyer, with the game-winner and sending Panther fans dancing for joy on Park Street.

McHenry 5, Warren 0
Bobby Miller and Marcus Reiser, combined to throw an opening day no-hitter for the Warriors in Gurnee. Miller (1-0) threw the first five hitless innings for the Warriors and Reiser finished off the Blue Devils with two hitless innings to complete the masterpiece. Mike Borst (double) and Jack Glosson (single) picked up RBI hits to give Miller and Reiser all the run-support they would need  

Metamora 7,  Bloomington Central Catholic 2
Metamora (2-0) rolled past the host Saints behind Sam Brace and University of Arizona-bound Trent Johnson. Brace (1-0) allowed one hit over his four shutout innings on the mound to pick up the win. Johnson had three hits, including a double and his first round-tripper of 2015. Jake Guede singled and had two more RBI for the Redbirds. The Redbirds will travel to Springfield to meet the defending Class 3A state runner-up Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones (0-1) on Thursday.  

Monticello 14, Arcola 0
Monticello (2-0) crushed the the Purple Riders behind Ryne Bundy and Jake Burton. Bundy had two singles, a double, and three RBI while Burton also doubled and had three RBI. Tyler Jones (1-0) struck out five in his two hitless innings to pick up the win, while three other Sage pitchers combined for the one-hit shutout.

Morgan Park 8, Lincoln Park 3
Morgan Park (1-0) fired a combined no-hitter in the season-opener for both schools. Jimmy Ambrose (1-0), Tyler Hill and Jarren Norman combined for the no-hitter. Ambrose threw the first four innings with three strikeouts to pick up the win. Michigan-bound Christian Bullock doubled and drove in four runs to lead the Mustang attack.

Mount Carmel 10, Lake View 0 4.5 innings
Mount Carmel (1-0) opened the 2015 campaign in style with a combined no-hitter from Nelson Munoz and Cameron Hupe. Munoz (1-0) went the first four innings with 11 punchouts. Hupe added three more punchouts, striking out the side in the top of the fifth. Nick Wheeler led the 10-hit Caravan attack with a 2-for-2 game, including a double. Scott Kapers chipped in with a single and two RBI. AJ Lewis scored three runs, with two singles and an  RBI.  

Mount Vernon 4, Salem 3 (3/17/15)
Mount Vernon (1-0) slipped past Salem to win the season-opener for both schools. The Rams trailed 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth when the Wildcat defense imploded. Ram junior Darick Hayes reached on an error and would score the tying run on a wild pitch. In the bottom of the seventh, after one out, successive singles from Blake Jones, Reed Millwood and Ryan Campbell loaded the bases for Mt. Vernon. The second out was recorded on a force out at the plate and then Hayes’ grounder was booted and Millwood danced home with the Ram game-winner.

Niles North 18, Mather 1
Niles North (2-0) crushed the visitors from Chicago behind Phil Klafta, Tony Granato and Joey Benjamin. The Vikings exploded for 11 runs in the first inning and breezed to the 5-inning victory. Klafta singled, doubled and had three RBI while Granato had a pair of triples and two RBI. Granato (1-0) also was the winning pitcher with two scoreless innings of work. Benjamin chipped in with two singles and two RBI.

O’Fallon 4, Alton Marquette 0
Chris Holba, Brad Harrison, Grant Robison and Chris Dye, combined for a season-opening three-hit shutout in Alton on Wednesday. Holba (1-0) struck out seven in his three scoreless innings to pick up the win. Harrison fanned four in his 2.1 innings of work. The Panthers scored four times in the top of the fifth, to break open a scoreless tie. Harrison singled home the first Panther run. A sac-fly from Brad Snyder made it 2-0 O’Fallon. Jake Holl’s two-run single concluded the scoring in the eventful fifth.  

Oak Lawn 8, De La  Salle 7
Oak Lawn (1-0) won in walk-off fashion in the season-opener for both clubs on Wednesday. Liam Blake singled home Patrick Slattery, with the game-winner, sending Spartan fans celebrating onto 93rd Street. Blake was 2-for-3 in the game with a pair of RBI, while Slattery had a perfect 2-for-2 day with two RBI for the winning Spartans.

Plainfield Central 10, Lincoln-Way Central 5
Plainfield Central (1-0) scored six times in the bottom of the first and cruised to a season and home-opening win on Wednesday. Danny Brandon led the Wildcat attack with a single, double and drove in four runs. John Kostelz was 2-for-2 with an RBI while junior Matt Bunetta was also 2-for-2 with a run scored. Sean Studer and TJ Paupousek both had two hits and two RBI for Lincoln-Way Central (0-1)

Ridgewood 11, Morton West 9
Ridgewood (1-0) scored five times in the bottom of the seventh to stun the Mustangs and win its season-opener in Norridge.   

Rockford Lutheran 10, Johnsburg 2
Rockford Lutheran (1-0) crushed the Skyhawks behind the booming bat of Parker Johnson. Johnson had a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate with two bombs, a double, four RBI and 10 total bases in his first game. Brady West chipped in with a pair of doubles and three RBI. Johnny Sanchez (1-0) picked up the Crusader win on the mound allowing a run in his four innings of work.    

Williamsville 6, Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin 4
Williamsville (1-0) scored four runs in the top of the sixth to rally past SHG (0-1) at Comstock Field in Springfield. Trailing 3-2 as the game entered the top of the sixth, the Bullets tied the game on a fielder’s choice. Dakin’s RBI bunt single gave the Bullets a 4-3 lead. The Bullets scored two more runs in the inning on another fielder’s choice and a wild pitch. SIU-bound Cole Daley had two singles and an RBI to lead the Cyclones.
