Inside the Recruitment: '15 RHP Michael Cook commits to Tiffin

Michael Cook, RHP, Milford HS, Class of 2015

PBR: Why did you choose Tiffin?

Cook: I chose Tiffin because I felt at home when I was there and I really like their campus, sports complex, and baseball field.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Cook: I was considering Capital, Lake Erie, Wabash, Denison, Mount Union, Bluffton, and Lourdes.

PBR:  Where did Tiffin first see you compete?

Cook: I'm pretty sure Tiffin first saw me at the Top Prospect Games but if they didn't, I went up to Tiffin for a Select Prospect Day.

PBR: Coach Wilkins has brought a lot of excitement to the Dragon baseball program in his first full season.  What are some of the skills that you will bring to the table Tiffin?

Cook: Some of the skills I will bring are hard work, dedication, and being able to compete. I will always make sure we find a way to win.

PBR: What kind of role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Cook: The coaches expect me to compete for probably a reliever spot

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Cook: My brother has had the biggest impact on me. He always helps me go in the right path, makes sure I am doing what I need to be doing to get better, and makes sure I do the right things off the field.

PBR:  Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most exciting experience?

Cook: I play for Billy Boston and the 18u Midwest Prospects. The most exciting experience was when I wasn't there. It was last summer in the CABA World Series in South Carolina. We made it to the semi-finals with 11 players and beat the number 1 team in the nation.

PBR: What were your stats for this spring season at Milford?

Cook: My stats were 10 games, 40 IP, 5-1 record, 32 K's, 1 shutout, 0.95 WHIP, 1.40 ERA.

PBR: Who is the best hitter that you have ever faced?

Cook: The best hitter I have ever faced was Josh Hollander. I just can't seem to get him out. Sophomore year he hit 2 home runs off of me in the same game. He has the quickest hands and really knows how to explode on the ball.
