Inside the Recruitment: '15 RHP Mitchell Bault commits to Ohio Dominican

Mitchell Bault, RHP, Moeller HS, Class of 2015

PBR: Why did you choose Ohio Dominican?

Bault:  I chose Ohio Dominican because I liked the campus, I liked the staff, and I liked that I would have the opportunity to play as a freshman. I also liked that it would be close to home so my family could come and watch me play.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Bault: BGSU, Marietta, and UC

PBR: Where did Ohio Dominican first see you? How did your relationship develop with Coach Page?

Bault: I believe they saw me at the Unsigned Senior Games, it was after then that they reached out to me and asked me to come up and visit.

PBR: Coach Page has made Ohio Dominican a baseball powerhouse. What will it be like to play under the legendary coach?

Bault:  I expect to carry on the baseball powerhouse. I expect it to be a great experience, I would not expect anything less.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Bault: I believe they want to me hit the ground running and try to help the program in any way possible. I hope to be in the rotation as a freshman.

PBR: What summer team do you play on and how has travel baseball helped your development as a player?

Bault: I play for the Cincinnati Flames in the summer. Travel ball has helped me really develop as a pitcher. It has allowed me to throw more innings, and we play not only the best teams in Ohio but also in the mid-west. I have been able to play with and against some seriously talented players. This has helped me develop a confidence to pitch to anyone.

PBR: What was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Bault: if I had to pick the most memorable experience it would be going down to Georgia and playing in the Perfect Game WWBA with my teammates. It was a great experience getting to play against great teams with commits from all over the country. I believe we grew as a team down there and held our own against them.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Bault: My Dad, without a doubt. He has molded me into the player I am today. He taught me how to pitch and not just to throw. Over the years he has taught me so many things. I owe a lot of my success to him and his teaching. He's a great dad.

PBR: What were your stats for this spring season?

Bault:  9.2 IP; ERA: 0.00; Record: 2-0 (1 save); SO: 10; BB: 2; Runs: 0

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?

Bault: Bryan Soth, Bryan and I always battle during practices and I can never get the best of him. He's a solid player with a good approach to the plate. He is very underrated in my mind. He has quick hands and squares up the ball more often than not. I've been lucky enough to be his teammate for both Moeller and the Flames so I don’t actually have to face him in real games.
