Frankie Peck, RHP, Stow HS, Class of 2016

PBR: Why did you choose Hiram?

Peck: I chose Hiram because, the environment is just a very comfortable place, I like every player I've mt there and could tell that we could have great chemistry. The coaches are by far the best I've talked to and showed the most interest in recruiting me. I also have grown a great relationship with coach Doug. He would always text me about other things not just baseball. That showed me a lot about these coaches, and that they really care about there players.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Peck: other schools that were on my list were: Notre Dame College, Heidelberg, Otterbein and Bawldwin Wallace.

PBR:  Where did the coaches first see you compete and how did your relationship develop with the rest of the coaching staff?

Peck: Coach Doug saw me pitch at a Brownlee showcase summer of 2015. After that he contacted me to explain his interest. Hiram was the first college to give me a call. Right away I had a great relationship with coach Doug and he even came to some of my high school practices. He by far showed the most interest in me and showed that they were serious about recruiting me.

PBR: What role does the coaching staff expect you to play during your first year on campus?

Peck: We have talked about possibly early playing time. But it's not going to be handed to me. I know that I have to give it my 100% every practice and show them that in serious about making a difference at Hiram college.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Peck: First off it would have to be my high school coach DeBord. He told Ben Simon about me and got me on there team. Ben Simon one of my coaches for my summer team, "Brownlee" never gave up on me and continued to show me hard work will forever pay off. He also helped me add about 3-4 mph on my fastball. Without coach DeBord and Ben Simon,I wouldn't have developed to who I am as a ball player today.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most exciting experience playing summer ball?

Peck: I play for the Brownlee lookouts. Last summer was my first time playing for them. The most exciting thing playing for them was the guys I met. We all clicked so fast and played very well together.
