Scouting Report

Jackson Gillis is a power left-hander who pitches in the upper-80s now with a ton of life on his fastball. He repeats his delivery, is a very good athlete and handles the running game. His secondary pitches are coming on but his fastball has been overwhelming at the high school level. The spin and changeup are a work in progress as both need to further develop but they have the correct shape and form to them. At 6-foot-2, 200-pounds he is a big time pro prospect but the Vandy commitment makes things much more interesting.

Gillis' on the Recruiting Process

" I am very excited to finally have decided on a school to play baseball at and further my education. It came down to Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, UNC, Miami, ASU and Pitt. I am relieved and honored to be a future Commodore, and excited to play under the best college coach there is. Deciding on Vanderbilt was really a no-brainer because of the combination of academics, Winning tradition, and coaching staff. When I visited the winter of my sophomore year, right away I felt at home. I cannot wait to grow as a pitcher and a person at Vanderbilt, and win the College World Series."
